If that was the case, she woulda been all over the cab! Going through the slalom I was picking up one tire each turn, essentially walking the front end back and forth side to side!

 

Any tricks to get the upper ball joint to let go other than a big hammer?

 

Put the nut back on 3 or 4 turns.
Jack up the truck from lower control arm.
Wedge some wood between frame and upper control arm.
Put it back on the stand.
Whack it….

 

Thanks, didn't do exactly that but made me realize supporting the lower control arm was needed. After that a combination of spreader and mallet did the trick.

Yea you need to create downward pressure since the strut holds the pressure and control arms are along for the ride

 

Got my toggle switch holder in.



Replaces my temporary homemade job.
