Computer noob

Hey guys,

wondering if anyone can help me with choosing a new desktop/has any ideas. Basically trying to be very easy on the wallet and get a decent desktop. I’ll basically only be using it to play WoW (classic) and edit photos on Lightroom. That’s pretty much it. I have a surface pro to do all my small daily stuff. Im only looking into desktops so I have a small “workstation” to edit photos and light gaming. I’m not a fan of laptops for gaming purposes. Been out of the gaming scene for years so im not really sure what is good anymore.

Any mobo with USB-C and wireless if you need it.
1660ti or 3060 video card, ideally 3060.

Apologies for linking an out of stock item. Technology sells fast and is outdated even faster (this has probably been OoS for awhile and most likely discontinued.) I wanted to give you an idea on what you’re looking at for hardware and price point. Whatever you decide, get a solid state as your main memory component. M.2 NVME is pretty popular and inexpensive and wicked fast loading your operating system and frequently used apps. The more the motherboard supports, the better. Mine supports 2 to give you an idea while still having a SATA port for a mechanical drive. It’s still wise to be redundant and install a 1TB+ mechanical drive. AMD Ryzen has taken the throne in recent years but my Intel machine does great for what I need it for. Many prebuilds cut corners on motherboards, power supply, and cable management but I think PowerSpec has made a great name for themselves.

Couple of other things to consider, I like larger cases more for better airflow. However, it entirely depends on how efficient your case can push out the hot air and intake new cool air. It’s also easier to add more fans if need be in the future. This will get you the most longevity out of your hardware by not getting it too hot.

It’s not abnormal for you graphics card to be half of your computer budget.
