Wife wants to go test drive one in hopes that she will like it enough to want to buy one. Told her I’m not selling any of our current rigs to get one and we should just wait to see what the next Tacoma and 4runners look like.

Should I let her get one if she likes it? Never owned a Hyundai before but know they are much improved from what they used to be. Also never cared for the Subaru Baja and it reminds me of one of those. I think I would rather have her drive a Ridgeline than one of these but maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.

    Thoughts ?

My girl has a Kia Soul. I wasn’t in love with it before she bought, but it has been a great car. Going on 2.5 years and no issues. It has air conditioned seats and adaptive cruise control. It drives better than I would have guessed. A little stiff but handles well.

Saw one in the wild a few weeks ago. It's a sportier, smaller Ridgeline.

Let her test drive it, and if she likes it let her buy it. Happy wife, happy life.

Nobody here can tell you what your wife would like. Have her drive it and see if she likes it. Not too sure how long you have been married but happy wife = happy life. I wouldn't trust it on the rubicon but around town shouldn't be too bad...sounds like you will still have your trail rigs when you want to be adventurous.

That thing is waaaaaay better looking than a Ridgeline, 10 year 100,000 warranty, looks like a Ute. Don't see the problem here

Put your foot down and simply tell her, “no.” Explain you’re the boss and better able to handle such matters. Good luck!

So far our 2017 Hyundai Tucson awd has been a great car for us. 50k miles and nothing but oil changes and a new set of tires. Not sure about long term reliability though.

We have our own vehicles. We used to share, but our likes have diverged a bit since our girls grew up. So, I would say to let your wife get what she wants. Drive what you like. Zero need for friction there, right?

I have 100% faith that Asian brands will run just fine for many years. I have less trust in US products.

I kinda like the look of the Santa Cruz (to me looks a ton better than the Ridgeline). If she doesn't need a real truck that thing looks like a fun whatever it is. Subaru brat/Ranchero thing? Test drive it and see what she thinks.

Whoa I just looked that thing starts at $28k and goes up to almost $40k for the limited?!?! LOL I thought it was a $20k econotruck thing. For that price I don't think it's worth it. The new Ford Maverick though looks pretty neat for being $20k though.

In the end I agree happy wife happy life so let her drive it but golly gee wilikers things are expensive today!

If she likes it, get it. I know plenty of people with Hyundai’s over the last 5 years and they are all happy with them. Reviews say it might be a fun little “truck” to drive around.

Resale value on a unique Hyundai “pickup” will be garbage. Talk to her on the financial value of the Hyundai.
Women are way smarter than what we men give them credit for when it comes to finance.

I see plenty of ladies driving around Tacomas and 4runners here in California and not only are these ladies automatic 10’s in my book but I know they have IQ’s that are 10 times higher than mine since they know financial value too!
