I think Bottas is better than Russell, I don't know why they took away a points generating driver.

There is no way Bottas is better than Russell. The car is what makes Bottas seem as good as he is. Russell is young and I think he will make HAM retire shortly after he arrives. Although when all the changes happen, the top three are going to be humbled as the cars will be much more equal...

Well Russel lost it in qualifying on the last corner messing up his chances for a higher position. If he was in the Mercedes would he have made the same error? I think a lot of drivers are better than their car will allow them to be. Won't help Mazespin but MSC in the Merc would be interesting to see.

My boy Bottas! Flawless race - I guess it's easy being out front but finally, not mistakes, no bad pitstops, car ran fine. It all came together.

As someone mentioned, good for Mick, Q2 in qualifying and then was actually doing fairly well until Alonso hit him and caused a spin.

Speaking of Alonso, I hate that he got booted so early in the race. I think he had a solid chance at a podium in those conditions.

What was his deal? Sainz went from last to 8th, Hamilton 10th to 4th. I like Alonso, did he get stuck behind someone?

Speaking of time penalties, i'm a little surprised Gasly got that 5 second penalty for hitting Alonso. Kinda just sandwiched in between two cars... not much he could do from my perpective.

Penalty allocations is really screwy this year, and bears little relationship to fault or harm done or danger.

Hamilton is a truly great driver, and on a good day he makes very few mistakes. I want to appreciate him for his success and great achievement, and for standing tall in raising awareness and moving forward social justice and fairness.
The Mercedes corporate and team culture has a certain kind of hubris, and seems to be constantly trying to put a heavy thumb on the scale behind the scenes to slew the contest in their favor. This makes it very difficult for me to root for them or to appreciate the incredible excellence they usually show in engineering and performance.
I've owned several great Mercedes vehicles, that were excellent in most regards, but I always felt a little bit creeped out to own and to be seen driving them.

You want thumbs on scales, look no further than Ferrari. They are 100% certain that F1 revolves around their team, and they're not far wrong. I agree that MB swings their weight sometimes, but if you go back to their beginnings you don't see it. They push their case these days because they have proven themselves to be at the front of the grid, which gives them the cred.

I have a Merc E350 wagon. It is a fantastic car with a ridiculously long list of cleverness inside. I may keep it forever. I bought it used which means I got a $stupid-priced car for $insane-depreciation-price. I think they're a fantastic bargain on the used market. As far as 'creeped out' goes, well, the price was ridiculous so, they can think what they want. I smile as I throw 12 bags of mulch in the back and drive away, the car still just as level and composed as it was about 750 pounds ago.

tldr; Mercedes is building good cars again. I'm a fan.
