I just ordered the Subaru tweeters and am having second thoughts...am I just falling prey to fomo? A quick fix, but not the best fix? Should I hold off until I plan an entire system swap to make sure everything marries well?

Hoping some of you other- or self-proclaimed experts can chime in. Are they overrated or worth the $100, even if just a placeholder until I find a complete setup?

Cue the subjective cries of the remorseful buyers who are in denial! lol

I dunno, I haven't bothered changing mine yet, I've found it depends greatly on the quality of the track I'm playing. The 3-band EQ helped a tiny bit. I'm skeptical as to why Crutchfield recommends something else as a stock replacement, but wait, it's probably because the speaker efficiency doesn't jive with the stock headunit.

$100 is better saved for a proper upgrade if you ask me, don't forget the grain of salt.

With level-headed, sophisticated talk like that, you seem like one of them educated folks!..."Cue the subjective cries of the remorseful buyer..." beautifully summarizes the base of most arguments on here. In my world, we call it the sunk cost fallacy. I digress. Though, your point is exactly what has been holding me back from purchasing the oemaudio+ setup.

Haha yeah, a bunch of folks trying to validate their purchases? For me, it's all relative. The stock non-JBL system isn't world-making or breaking, but it's better than my '16 Subaru was (since when are they known for their stereos anyway?), and better than my gf's 10y.o. Scion that sounds like it has a permanent high-pass filter on. Those are my main points of reference.

The full oemaudio+ setup is over $1k right? I love music and good audio but damn that's just really steep. I spent maybe $200 on my home stereo setup when I was in college and I've yet to hear a home stereo sound better. I didn't buy any of it based on how it looks, that's for damn sure. I think I'm just gonna let the truck audio be what it is, we're getting spoiled by the modern age, and if there wasn't a TacomaWorld most of us wouldn't think anything was wrong with the stock system. Most people on here would be shocked to see what speakers are in the guitar amps that were used to record their favorite albums (paper cones and thin foam surrounds). Can you tell I'm over the "check out how sick these speakers look" argument?

I'd rather spend $100 at my local record store or guitar shop and enjoy the results at home.

I don't think you'll catch too many audiophile types praising these. Nor will a pair of tweeters fix that audio system. Great sound doesn't have to be terribly expensive, but you ain't gonna get it for $100.

They are a quick fix, but not the best fix.
They are not overrated, because they are $100.
I have 3 grand into my audio NOT including the head unit. And that’s just for Kicker K-series.

i just imagine someone putting some 1” spacers behind their stock wheels and then complaining that their truck still does horrible at rock climbing.

Like, yeah… you did the cheap option so you got the cheap results lol.

$100 doesn’t go very far in car audio.

I think the big problem with the "kicker tweeter" option is that most people that go that way and up replacing the door speakers with matching kicker 6x9 3 way coaxial speakers. When they do this, they all of a sudden have 6 high frequency drivers in the front at different levels.

It's a cheap and good upgrade that provides more clarity and clear sound. $80 at BAM.

    Cheap upgrade, yes
But necessary? I don't think so.

They were the first thing I changed in my Taco, but they overpowered the door speakers, which made me feel like I need to get door speakers. Which I did.
Now I'm looking at a better head unit.

If I am to go over it again, I'd look at changing the head unit first, then door speakers, then the tweeters.
