Also, for a black Tacoma, in time as it gets some wear on it, you might wanna consider the turtle wax hybrid ceramic black polish.

The stuff really can make old black paint look awesome. This 4Runner lived outside and was well loved before we got it several years ago!

If you are a "hands on" guy with the cleaning of your rig then I would just go with a good sealant. A black truck means that you are gonna have to polish it, at least, once a year anyway so why spend the money on ceramic? Also make sure it's polished before you coat it. Otherwise you're just covering swirls.....good luck!!!!

You can't get away with polishing a car every year anymore with newer vehicles there is not enough clear coat. Maybe with a non abrasive chemical paint cleaner that only cleans the surface.

Even with a 2 step correction you're not removing every scratch anyway. Also if a sealant is going to bond to non polished paint, a coating will too.

If applying a non abrasive chemical paint cleaner by machine. Due to the mechanical action of the machine polisher and friction are you still removing slight traces of clearcoat?

Applying a ceramic coating isn't really the part to be worried about. It's the prep work involved that really makes a ceramic coating look great or not (or not buffing it off all the way). That's what makes a professional application so expensive. It's all the paint correction they do and it takes skill and time. It's really impressive to see all the attention to detail they give.

If I wasn't going to apply an actual ceramic or graphene coating, I'd choose Adam's Graphene Spray coating (it's a more diluted version that cost less as well). It's pretty forgiving and is still about a 12 month coating. You still gotta do the prep work (wash, iron remover, clay bar, 1 or 2 step compound and polish, prep spray wipe down, then application) but this stuff is much easier to work with and still beads water like crazy. I use it on glass and plastics because it's more forgiving when it comes to buffing it off. It holds up pretty good on wheels too. Ceramics really make the maintenance washing and cleaning really easy. Nothing really sticks to the surface like an untreated surface. Once you go full ceramic or graphene you'll never go back to anything lesser, it's that good.

Ceramic coating beads. What you want is "round" beads.

What I “want” is what’s on my truck. LOL! Detailed for fifteen years. I think I know what I want.

Wasn't calling you out or anything. Just showing the bead of a real ceramic and what to expect. If I wanted to call you out specifically I would have Quoted your post. I'm glad you're happy though
