To signal, or not signal, that is the question

Sounds about right. I like to hit my strobes when people do dumb things like cut me off or tailgate. Usually they back off.

*My strobes are amber and approved by the police for use to alert other drivers of hazards (the hazard is usually the other driver)

Always signal. Never direct traffic or randomly stop to let others in. I don't pay attention to people who try to wave me in either, they are the reason traffic is backed up in the first place.

I use my turn signals 99% of the time & always on the freeway. It’s really nice when someone has they’re signal on, you let them in & they give you a hand wave. Common courtesy. Love that. Turn signals aren’t too difficult, I wish more people used them. Here in Cali, it’s pretty crazy on the roads as it is with millions of cars everywhere. A while back, my family & I did a road trip to Boise to visit a family member there. I couldn’t believe how every single person in a car used their turn signals! So weird. We were there 3 days and only saw one person not using their turn signal!

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
If one make of car attracts the rudest drivers, I think that might be VW. Always going too fast, weaving in and out of lanes, no signals, no headlights in the rain. I think they're practicing for the day when they can afford a Porsche.

I worked for VW for 6 years, a very large chunk of the people that would come in were a-holes with flat brim hats, plaid headliners, and rubber band tires.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
I always use them out of habit.

Speaking of BMW's, my brand spanking new Taco almost got slammed into by two morons in Beeemmuuhhhsss grab-assing on Sunrise Highway in rush hour traffic yesterday. Traffic is moving along at about 45 when these two get the urge to run the Asshole-500.

I was getting over to take my exit and the two of them blazed by me on the shoulder at around 80.

It's times like these where I want to see them hit a bridge abutment.

You mean all cars come with turn signals?
I see so many that don't use them, you'd think they didn't come with them. Anyway I have a retired police, swat and former deputy chief, who's comment was 75% of all drivers are terrible at best and 10% of those are lethal and shouldn't have a license. But yes I use them 99.9% of the time.

My biggest peeve about signaling is the people who do not signal their intent to leave a roundabout. If you don't signal your exit of the roundabout, the traffic doesn't flow smoothly, while I sit and wonder what you are going to do. I hate roundabouts, but if they are going to work, the exit signal is key.
BTW, BMW's signal when they flash their lights at you to move over.............

It depends. If there are no cars around close enough for it be an issue I may not. But I'm so used to doing it that I usually do so out of habit. If I'm in a turn lane and have no option other than to turn I may not. But 95% of the time I do.

FYI. just because the other driver has their turn signals on don't assume they are going to turn.

I got pulled over and got a warning for not signaling after a landscaping truck weaved into my lane. I told the trooper that, she said she saw it but I still needed to signal. I was staring at her in disbelief at this and she seemed confused why.

I'm a huge fan of roundabouts. But....

On the smaller ones...like a residential area I don't trust anyone signal or not. I see lots of people at the roundabout closest to me that will signal their exit one exit too early. It's small though....so me waiting another second to see WTF they are actually doing is pretty inconsequential.

I don't fault anyone on the smaller ones for not using turn signals. It doesn't make that much difference. The bigger ones on highways and primaries are a different story.

    Wtf.

What kind of Massachusetts question is this.

 I don't sometimes. If I'm in a lane that only goes one way or something like that. Even then it's 50/50

Here the PDX area highways, if I turn my signal on to show intent to change lanes, 99% of the time some ass will intentionally speed up to close the gap.

Regardless, I gave them plenty of heads up that I am changing lanes, they acknowledged it, so I lean in to start coming over anyways. I'm sure it pisses off the guy behind him that gets the surprise brake lights. :D

Here in Metro Atlanta people seem like they're afraid to signal. I don't know why, because when someone is trying to pull out from a side street into heavy traffic that is actually flowing, someone seems to want to slam on brakes to let them in, screwing up everything no matter how fast we were all going behind them. That said, I love it when someone lets me in when I'm in that situation!

Yes, I use my turn signals all the time. So does my wife. I think we are the only two in Atlanta that does most days...
