Had a super late start yesterday for my camping trip to Pismo and didn’t get in until about 8pm, but we were able to rip around the dunes this morning for a few hours. We all had a super fun time. I was surprised the stock tires handled the dunes as well as they did! Luckily one of my buddies had maxtrax which helped in a couple situations.

Looks like fun! Want to head out there next month. How are you guys mounting the flags and where are you getting them? I have a tonneau so the typical in bed mounts wont work.

    So much fun!
I picked up one of these to mount the flag, https://caliraisedoffroad.com/products/2016-2018-bed-accessory-bracket?_pos=5&_sid=a32a09942&_ss=r

I bought that before I knew my bed rack was going to be delivered, so next time I’ll probably just mount it to the rack with a U bolt or something.

Not sure where you are located but I’d be happy to give you the mount I used. I had to drill out the mounting hole to make the flag work but the setup works well. Accidentally drilled it out a little too large for my flag so I had to use some washers.

FYI, just tried to go to prewitt ridge and the trail was locked and gated. Not sure why. Asked a local and he said it may be due to a fire. Didn't see it mentioned on the NF website.

I know one or two forests did not open at the same time as the others. Can’t remember if Los Padres was one of them or not.

NM. Here’s your answer. Dolan fire and “heavy rains in 2020”.

Up in Mendocino and Humboldt today and tomorrow for work. It is damn nice out here. Going to have to hit Avenue of the Giants on the way home.

Also, the contractor-model Ram that I'm driving has the absolute shittiest steering wheel, stick, center console, etc. Loud as hell in the wind, too. It's like driving a minivan.

It can be difficult to find what you’re looking for. Especially when the forest spans several ranger districts.

I doubt you were the first nor the last to miss that.

Anyone do the Old Coast Road trail from Bixby Bridge? Is it easy to do with a stock OR? I don’t have a compressor or anything yet, but want to go play with my new-to-me truck.

When it’s dry, you shouldn’t have difficulty. However, when it’s been raining, the road becomes slick, it will be a little harder.

Just came back from there (old coast) last weekend. Easy peezy as long as it's dry like said above. It's a nice drive, took us 1 hr 40 min at a slow pace stopping by some viewpoints for pics. Saw two other cars out there on a Saturday late morning drive.

So you're all about the quality of the lube then?

So - yes. I think that Old Coast Rd is right up my alley. Just ordered a Viair 400P, seeing as not having some way to deflate/inflate was making me a bit nervous.

Next up, I guess, kinetic rope, some soft shackles and some hitch-mounted recovery point. Maxtrax probably following.

I’ll try these easy drives to get oriented, but it’ll be good to have some kit as I get a little skill.

PS Lube jokes always appreciated. The wife and I were changing the motor in the hot tub, my ‘that’s what she said’ Joke fell flat after the Tenth time or so.
