TW, I need some assistance on diagnosing engine stall after adding on an AFE momentum GT intake and scoop to a 2014 Tacoma 4.0L. When the truck idles rpms sit between 500 to 1100 fluctuating more so over stock, when running the engine to 4000rpm and engaging the clutch the engine stalls when the rpms drop below 500-1000rpm completely shutting the truck off ie battery dies, clock shuts off. The truck quickly turns back on with the check engine light and normal maintenance lights as if just turning the key to the accessory position. I can then restart the truck with no issue and no warning lights. I reinstalled the stock intake and problem solved. I understand if it works don't mess with it and the it goes without saying but for those to wish to comment yes an intake will not garnish any hp outside of a wallet dump. However, I have URD long tube headers and exhaust to go on next then the URD ECU. I would like to hear from those who have this intake and any issues you may have had from the unit or issues with install. I am already a little dismayed at AFE for taking 8 months to send out the intake (understandably it has been a pandemic) and the intake was missing the smog pump bracket for which AFE requested the entire intake be sent back. Luckily I needed to remove the intake anyhow. Thank you for your input.
