    Hey buddy!

The ingenuity of people to do stupid things never ceases to amaze me.

My hometown was full of people who used to inhale Lysol cans. I'm sure the territories has its fair share of gas huffers.

Latest project was installing a joying android head unit. Sounds and looks better than stock and wireless android auto capable. Decided to paint the radio surround and steering wheel bits black because I've been meaning to do it for a while.

Also wired up a backup camera anytime button using a relay to switch and modified a duel port usb (one port was power only) into dual ports that feed into the head unit. Also switched the blue LEDs in the camera button for orange LEDs.

After some use I gotta say the anytime camera is simply amazing for parallel parking on an uphill where you use neutral and gravity to back up because it's easier than putting it in gear.

New USB ports and backup camera pushbutton. Broke off the usb led because I found it annoying.

Finally got around to wiring in the traction control disable switch as well.

Wired a relay (under drivers seat) to the light green wire from the yaw sensor so when the button is pressed the abs and traction control are disabled and stay disabled until the button is pressed again AND the truck is restarted.

MAIN OBJECTIVE ACHIEVED: with switch pushed in traction control is always disabled by default when I start the truck.

Will have to diagnose with Hptuners but the abs and traction control lights don't disappear on the dash gauges until the truck is turned off and then restarted. No codes seem to pop up when the button is turned on or off. There is a possibility the traction control may be re-enabled but the lights don't reset until cycling the truck on and off (tested this theory Dec 2022, ABS remains disabled until truck is turned of and restarted).

I even pulled the relay out and disabled by separating the wire and touching it together with the same result.

Maybe not the most interesting thing in the world but I'm actually kind of proud of it. Been working on a word document (5 pages and growing) that shows all my wiring changes (wire colors from devices, spliced to what, etc.) and additions, locations of relays/devices/controllers, reference wiring diagrams/pictures, etc. Helps because it's so easy to forget what's going on, especially with so many changes and add-ons.

Since I recommended it in the SC thread I thought I'd post some of my favorite tools.

Cheap and inexpensive belt tensioner tool that permanently hides in the cubby under the rear seats. Apparently someone broke one of these three times but it's been good to me so far. Will replace with something better if it dies on me but it's been handy so far.

Cheap ratcheting hose clamp pliers! When you need them these things are as fun as tits to play with.

Southwire 21550T clamp meter. Got this guy on sale from Amazon. Really good quality meter for the price and the clamp that holds one of the probes on the back is super handy for troubleshooting. Size is nice for working on the truck too.

My transmission jack! One of the tilt knobs is in the stupidest location but overall it's really nice to use and have. Dropped the trans twice and it helped with taking the third member out for installing the truetrac. I even use it to support the rear driveshaft when I have to remove/reinstall it.

Took the time to paint the outside (not the lit up circle outline or the middle) black after trying to remove the chrome with oven cleaner (didn't work because it's an actual thin strip of shiny metal).

Waaaay happier with how it looks. I like these knobs better than the stock ones but never loved the chrome strip. Made the middle part of the dash look way cleaner. Just wish these could be bought in black and hoping the paint holds up.

things are all right! I haven’t spent a whole lot of money on the truck, although I’m thinking of doing a self-photo-shoot at night, time to update my loyal followers on my build thread. I have some stuff to do so the truck is readier for winter, getting on that this week.

I have really enjoyed the new 2lo kit, although it really is a solution looking for a problem; I find it’s great for pulling into the garage without riding the clutch.

Also really enjoying the handling of the stiffening kit.

So in short, nothing new happening on the truck at this moment. Just enjoying it.

I don't know many details on it. Bought my truck secondhand and it was already installed along with katzskin leather from the prior owner.

I do think it was a factory option though so talking to a stealership might be a good place to start.

I believe that there are aftermarket options available as well but I've never looked into it because.....

    I got heated seats :bananadead:

Good luck though, it is totally worth doing in my opinion and I hope you can find the way to make it happen.

So it looks like I'm replacing my clutch in the next few weeks. Hoping it gets me to Christmas, it's still holding the torque but it's making a funny noise on engagement and feels like it's not grabbing like it used to. Got 4 years out of my first URD clutch and got 4 years out of this one. Not bad... for a cheap clutch I guess.

I hurt my shoulder bad last time I had the transmission out and it took years to heal. It's pretty much 100% now, but I wanted some tips on how you got the trans back on without exerting yourself. I always kind of manhandled it and that was a bit of a bad idea obviously. I do have a trans jack. On my car it's possible to tilt the engine slightly with a jack and that really helped. Not sure if you've done that on the truck, or if there are other things I can do.

I don't think I really did anything different from how anybody would have.

I jacked the trans up slowly more towards the rear of the truck and would inch it up slowly with the jack and move it forward slowly a bit at a time. Remembering to lay the harness across the trans and get things in place before it's fully up.

Then I just kept incrementally adjusting until things looked like they were lined up and wiggle everything until it slid into place. Didn't try to force anything too much.

@BassAckwards may have some actual tips, he drops transmissions in his trucks every few weeks:D
