Looking for advice/direction from the true Tacoma Pros on TW regarding a suspension lift.

I have a 21' TRD Sport Double Cab with a long box.

The official word from Toyota Canada is that they "Don't Recommend the TRD Lift Kit for the DBLB" and that it could "possibily" effect the warranty (https://pressroom.toyota.com/step-up-new-tacoma-trd-lift-kit-now-available/ ). I have recently confirmed this over the phone with a customer service rep at head office.

However, My dealership says that they can do it.?!

I've asked around the local Tacoma groups here in Canada, but generally get mixed information. Everything ranging from "fuck the warranty. It's a Tacoma" and "use Bilstein 5100s for better bang for your buck."

Also, received some sound info about the Rear end sag with the long box and the need for an extra leaf. Another comment about the rear drive shaft angles not working with a lift.

I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. Ultimately, I'm looking to give my truck a few extra inches of clearance. Something equivalent to the TRD Lift - 2" front / 1" rear

Is it possible with a TRD Sport DBLB. What do I need to get this done? Will it kill any part of my warranty?

While the lift will technically work is it worth buying from Toyota if it doesn’t include the warranty? If it doesn’t include a warranty I would shop elsewhere. Either 5100, eibach, fox 2.0, bilstein 6112… The value in the factory kit is the warranty and warranty preservation.

My 2018 DCLB TRDOR leaf packs went in like less than 40k miles (strange rear vibration at certain speeds). Granted, my normal GVW was 5340 lb. (2640 lb. front, 2700 lb. rear axles) but Toyota refused to warranty my leaf packs, even though my normal load was under max vehicle specs. Traced part of it down to tires but still have weird stuff going on in the rear axle. 3 dealers can't find anything wrong with the wheels or drivetrain. I'm about to install a Wheeler's Trail-Pro kit (Bilstein 6112/5160 shocks w/AllPro expedition leaf packs) and JBA UCA's. Will report back after the install what changes (if anything). What could possibly go wro....

@Rollo67 - This is the kind of information I was looking for. Thanks for this. I live in Southern Ontario and have called all dealerships within a stones throw and not one will do the work. I need to find an experienced Tacoma Off Road shop familiar with the possible issues like you've stated. I've been told a subtle rear vibration is common and would like to avoid that with the right gear and mechanic. Thanks for the info and report back if you get the chance.

Lots of info over there and in your location (or close to it) I have a simple 3/2 spacer/block lift. I run 5100's on the rear which handles the extra travel. I'm currently shopping for UCA's and a coilover set up for the front that will help me keep my 3 inch lift.

It doesn’t matter what brand lift you get. You will either get some vibration or none. Each truck acts differently. Some guys go 3/2 on the lift and never have an issue and some may go 2/1 and chase one forever. Unfortunately it’s the nature of the beast.
