It's sad how wrong you are about this. The water channels safely below the intake. This intake is at the same exact spot as your cabin intake. How much rain you got blowing in your face in the cab?

Almost every post of yours that I see is like this. Which came first, you are like this so people started frowning at you, or people started frowning at you so you are like this?

By the way, the HVAC system pulls from the cowl too genius. Perhaps read the thread first. Many folks run this mod with zero issues from rain water. If that was an issue then Toyota screwed up with the HVAC input in the cowl. An offroad company even sells kits for this mod.

I love this mod. Trimmed my fenders for 35s, so I needed to move my intake and I didn't want a snorkel. This was a perfect and cheap solution.

Hey, this is Tacoma World, and today is Tuesday; let me be the 1st to share a pic or two of mine today.

Did the original version about 3 years ago:

Changed to a bulb-seal soon after, and everything's great now.

I originally used some TrailToys fender trim I had leftover from my bedside chop (HC rear) as the seal between the aluminum tube and firewall, but the squeaking/grinding noises when the engine was under torque was horrific!

    upload_2021-10-19_10-5-34.jpg

Swapping to bulb-seal made all the noises go away.

I told Rob about my rattle, he told me about this, I replaced with this, and no more rattle. Definitely recommend.

might have to do this, but I think most of my rattle is the extra grating I did on my intake tube rubbing the grate on the cabin intake.

Cool mod, I can definitely see how this would work to divert water from the intake since the point of the cowl is to divert water from the HVAC intake.

Question for you guys who have done this mod - do you see an appreciable drop in HVAC air intake pressure when the motor is under load? I ask because the vents on the driver side of the cowl are smallish and Bernoulli says they might struggle with the combined CFM's from the HVAC and motor intake demand.

I opened two additional holes for the cowl to breathe. They are located next to the existing ones to allow for higher volume. At WOT and Full On there's no pressure difference than if I were cruising at 2500k at Full On.

^ Plus the air in the cowl is a high pressure zone of cooler air hence why some racecars use it for hp gains. Thus your air intake should be able to handle it just fine. I don't notice any difference in my cabin air vents even under load.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
So i gotta ask . . . before I do this mod, why not just end the tube before the cowl and leave in engine bay, I know the air intake will be warmer but does it matter that much, its not a high performance application.
    Thanks for your answers.
