I'll be there on Oct 9 weekend. But a day trip should be realistic for 16th. I'll send you my number

been slammed at work but could still make that weekend (15-17) work potentially, never booked a campsite since seemed like most people were out but found a good spot nearby that seems to be open most weekends

Oh, if you don't have anything booked don't worry about it. I'd be super pessimistic you'd find something anyways

Yes potentially Cranksgiving but it depends, game time decision. It's not at Paris Mtn this year?

@honda50r I am likely to make atleast a day trip up there that weekend, if weather cooperates.
Cranksgiving got moved to kanuga last year and I guess they are running it again this year.

random question - I thought you mentioned you were running a coil in your boxxer on the Demo, did it come that way or did you swap it out ?

Tannus rear on my hardtail and likely my trail bike soon.

It changes the grip characteristics (adjust accordingly) but you can tell when they work. I also pay the bike shop to install, best $20 ever spent

Negative good sir. I'll likely jinx myself by saying this but I've never had enough flats or rim/spoke issues to justify them.
Mostly due to the fact that I don't ride nearly as hard as say you or @honda50r

Yeah I agree they're definitely for more aggressive riders because there are trade-offs no doubt

I do not. So far only had to replace one tire because of flats. Had punctures that sealed and such…but only one replacement so far.

Aside from the obvious slight weight penalty, what other trade-offs have you noticed?

The wheel characteristics change - less feedback (vibration) from the wheels results in conscious riding changes. In many cases it encourages you to ride harder but that can result in more potential punctures as a result (picking shitty lines because you can't feel it). The grip is also affected because the tire has more support in different places (sidewall) but this isn't necessarily bad , just requires adjustment.

Pain in the ass to install

Maybe I read all that wrong but it almost sounds like the drawbacks are weight (who cares) and PITA install (pay the bros the shop to deal with).

Almost turned into a sales pitch haha.

Of the inserts available, is there one you’ve found you’d recommend/prefer over others?

Overall I do recommend them if riding aggressively - I'm hoping long term my tires last longer

I've only ran Tannus and have no complaints although countless insert opinions are out there - Cushcore is the most common insert although this may be a simple result of widespread availability at bike shops. Pinkbike has a wonderful article comparing riding impressions of the various brands
