I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I am really wanting to pull the trigger on a new bike. I really want to get into it next year but if I wait there won't be any to be had.
Besides that it's very expensive (at least to me it is!)!

Nice! I picked up a cheap set because water stains and such. What a PITA . I wondered if it would have been better to take seat out and do it in garage instead of struggling at lousy angles and cutting my hands :anonymous:

Whatcha lookin at? @guitarjamman got me turned on to Polygon. For the price point and the components you get, they seem to be a good option. Prices have gone up since I ordered mine though...
I have to take the seats straight out. Can't do it any other way. They're not covers, they're complete upholstery replacements so they'll look and feel like factory leather when I'm done (hopefully). I did slip on covers in the past, never again.
I wouldn't google that term... Think end of the the male anatomy

Me too. I didn't get one this year and I should have. I don't even want anything too expensive since I'm not sure how much I'll get into it again - I want to keep it under $750. I figure that gets me into the territory where the components are decent.

But, I've made a lot of big purchases this year so can't bring myself to pull the trigger on it. I need to cool off and actually put something in savings again.

A quick search and I found this site as a consolidation of several good direct-to-consumer bike brands: https://www.nomiddleman.com/direct-to-consumer/mountain-bikes/
I know people who've ridden each of these brands with very few negative remarks and none that I remember specifically. If you can get one, any of these brands should give you some nice bang for your buck.

One thing to watch out for with the 'direct to consumer' sales is some still require you to get the bike assembled by a professional shop in order to get the warranty. Not all require it, but many of them do and it adds some money and time to the overall deal.

@jmferg any updates on those yokohama geolander mts? I'm torn between those and toyo at3s. We just got the wife a set of the toyos for her the, and they're pretty sweet and would likely work since my cruiser spends 90% of its time on pavement. But damn those yokohamas look so good...

I figure I dropped $750 easily into my bike build this spring, though if I didn't already have some of the pieces laying around it would be close to $1000. Currently doing some updates to my SE Quad..need to find a real seatpost plus add the London Mod

Hey everyone! So it looks like i really am headed back East. So the question is,
    Fuild film/woolwax or Cosmoline rp-342?

Got a clean slate to work with here. I’ll be back Nov 1 and so im either gonna have to order some cosmoline or try to pay a local member to fluid film the frame.
Looking forward to meeting the New England crew

I like woolwax, but you can't go wrong with any of those options. Whatever is easiest/ cheapest

    Moving back to Boston!
I’ve read on here that cosmoline rp-342 last longer than the fluid film?
Ive got a ton of scratches on the frame, my skids, and clear coat from taking the truck down so many national forest roads so im thinking even one new england winter will leave me with a ton of rust if i dont treat it before salt season

Nice, so Jason would be closer to you than i probably would be. Fluid film and wool wax both do good, and we both use black, so anything on the frame will be black in color again. Cosmoline is good stuff, but after a few coats of fluid film or woolwax the frame will be well protected as long as you stay away from undercarriage sprays at the car wash
