You can also upload all pics to the iCloud. I pay $.99 for 50 gb of cloud storage a month. I can access any and all of my data from Apples iCloud website.

Trade the Apple for something that consistently works.

I know you're running windows and not a Mac so this doesn't apply but for anyone running a Mac, all my iPhone pics show up automatically in the Mac Photos app and in the latest Mac OS I can use one keyboard and mouse across all my devices so I can drag-n-drop anything between them. The Mac and iPhone also have a shared clipboard so I can cut something on the iPhone and paste it anywhere on the Mac.

This can happen when you have iCloud Photos turned on because when this is enabled it doesnt actually store all your photos on the phone itself. They are stored online and when you go to view them on your phone then are essentially downloaded. This is why sometimes you notice a little downloading icon when look at old photos. Check to see if that is what happening. If it is, then you can either download them from her iCloud account online. iCloud.com or you can disable iCloud Photos, download them onto your phone and then plug your phone into your computer to copy them.

i thought that might do the trick - turned off icloud

plugged in phone - the phone is there - but no folders to look at

    thanks anyway

i know this worked in the past because i do have folders on my laptop from my old iphone - not sure what changed - prob another way for apple to get you to buy icloud storage

edit - nevermind - they now appeared - i guess it needed time to load - thanks!!!!
