Definitely something I don't have to worry about in this area. We get anywhere from 12 to 16 inches for two weeks then rain rain rain.

You live in the PNW and drink Sam Adams swill?

    Uck.

I do agree, IPA not my thing either. But try some Kulshan lagers. The Oktoberfest was awesome, Plisner, Lager, Mexican lager, all way better than Samswill.

Voltage is too low for any kind of smart doorbell. Will be looking into battery operated ones now. Thanks all for the input!

Finished up this 8x12 shed kit over the weekend. Comes in a box from Lowe’s minus the roof, paint and concrete slab. Not bad... I’ll run power in couple weeks or so.

It’s an 8’ x 12’ and it was about $1,800 plus the concrete slab, roofing material and paint.

I’d say I have about $3,400 total in it.

In search of some advice. Anyone here have experience using wood planks as a wall/ceiling covering in a garage? Thinking about doing tongue and groove planks on my garage ceiling rather than wanting to kill myself and finish the drywall. Worried they'll warp come Summer once the humidity jumps.

I wouldn’t if you have any plans of insulating/heating it. Warm moist air will go thru the cracks up into the attic and condense in the insulation and the underside of the roof deck

Is the garage attached to the house?

It's insulated, but I've got no plans of heating it. Just planning on finishing it so I don't have to stare at the ugly unfinished drywall. It's attached to the house if that makes a difference.

Yep! Garage sits underneath the master bedroom.

I don’t know the codes there but up here it has to be drywall and sealed if it has living space above it. If it’s already has drywall you can go over it.

I think the code is the same here, but not 100% sure. Either way, there's already drywall there that's taped and mudded. My biggest concern on doing planks over top is warping. Don't want it to look great this winter and then they all warp once it get's a little humid. Maybe I'm just overthinking though.

Thought I had a picture of it but I don’t. Friend of a friend hung rough cut shiplap stained a barn red and then screwed license plates to the boards from all different states across the hole thing. Came out nice.

Should've made time to do this before drywall repair & paint crews came through, but having a baby sort of made me triage what HAD to get done STAT & delay the rest. My kitchen used to only be accessible via the dining room (right side of pic). Prior owners opened it up & now the more frequently used entrance is from the living room (dead ahead in pic). Problem has always been that the only light switch is in the original doorway. Coming in from the living room meant crossing the kitchen to get to the light switch. So I upgraded that switch to a GE smart dimmer, which then let me add a wireless dimmer that syncs to it via Bluetooth (battery life ~2 years). Mounts to the wall like a normal switch, I'm the only one that will ever know it's not a true 3 way switch.

    20211020_150945.jpg

Then I decided that the early 00's retrofit LED lights had to go. They're a very low temperature light, honestly as yellow as candlelight, probably around 2,700K. I had installed 4,500k pancake lights all over the house months ago, so I decided to order another box for the kitchen. Used my Dremel to open up the 4" holes to 6", ripped out the old construction can housings, touched up the paint & popped the new ones in. Less than $100 to make me & the girlfriend giddy.

In progress, I tried to convince the girlfriend this was the finished project. Pendant lights are all the rage, right?!
    20211020_134630.jpg

Finished & set to 5k temperature for task work:

    20211020_144458.jpg

Fun find during disassembly, whomever installed the prior LEDs got pretty lazy with their ground wires. All 5 lights were done this way :smack:

Follow up post a few hours later. I can't seem to sit still so I took delivery of, and immediately installed, the tub/shower hardware in the guest bathroom.

Looking for advice/solution. When I finished my floors this year I made custom floor registers out of the flooring material (LVP). It has held up well, however due to a couple missteps by family members we have lost some. I dont want to keep having to make more as the CNC takes a bit to setup and it's not a good permanent solution, so I want to look back at traditional floor registers possibly.

My issue is this. the whole in the floor is 5x12 and the typical floor register grate/flange is 5.25x11.5" so I will have a gap in the flooring on the width. Does anyone know of any oversized floor registers that would still fit in a 4x10 duct?

Add some structural backing. Maybe even holey angle steel. Great idea, BTW!

Yea I've tried coming up with a solution, the difficulty is the ribs, they are the week part of the registers.
