Good day to all, Newbie here. I am on an incline and must have done the unthinkable and did not apply brake before attempting to shift. I have a manual, but I cant find if the solenoid is active during the lockout, (voltage applied) or relaxed. I cant budge it forward or back pushing with one leg. I was thinking of just disconecting the battery, but maybe the signal is stored and will just repeat.
I am in the boonies of SW Ms. and 7 hours from home in Houston. Help! I am actually at an old house, but by myself and dont know anyone here..

    thanks,
    JB

When I said manual, I mean a service manual, the truck has A/T

There is a release button that will allow you to manually get it out of park until you can get the interlock fixed, it's under the little square cover next to the shifter just push it down with a screwdriver and it will unlock the park interlock.

Thank you for that Dm93...Mine being a 1999 column shift, it is located on top of the steering dressing near the instrument cluster. In 22 years, this has never happened and I have seen that little square cap but never gave it a second thought. It happens every time now that I put it in park. I have tried to just leave a key in and turn it to acc, but old habits...........
I had a new Suburu SUV in 2019 and it happened on my first trip...this one is much, much easier to get to........now, I just want to disable it. This, the cruise stop and brake lights must all use the same signal from the brake switch...there is nothing in the service manual, by design I am sure.

Well, I DID find that my STOP fuse was blown, but that did not fix the problem.

This is everything I can dig up about the interlock system, looks like there's 2 other fuses to check (CIG Fuse 15A and ECU-IG Fuse 15A) before tearing into it.
The solenoid is controlled by the Shift Lock Control Relay, looks like it would be fairly easy to check inputs and outputs once you get the covers off.
I never realized Toyota made a column shift Tacoma I've never seen one, I've seen 1st gen Tundras with column shift but never a Tacoma.
