You don't need anything fancy. Just don't let brake dust sitting on the wheels too long. It'll etch into the finish. Use 2 buckets for wash( 1for wheel tires, 1 for body). Use sealant on the wheels when you wax your car. My HRE wheels are like new and it's over 10 years old. A good car wash product will get most of it off. Never use stiff bristles the wheels.

    Where is your claybar?

As for the wheels... I use a foam cannon with chemical guys wash. Spray it on, then use a wheel only wash mit to clean them.

I also take my wheels off every 5k miles (when I rotate) and clean the back sides as well.

I’m not a professional detailer BUT I’m no dummy either! Of course you don’t leave the shit on to dry… now that we cleared that up, you didn’t read my post either. I said the overspray that gets between the spokes hitting the caliper- damaged the nice finish that comes on the caliper from factory. It made it streaky and dull. Maybe because it’s more of a porous finish or something I don’t know. And yes it cleans the wheels and advertise safe on all wheel finishes. And that I’m sure maybe true and it also doesn’t say safe on calipers or any other parts because well it’s a wheel cleaner right. So I assumed it’s safe… that’s my bad. Also it’s not like your spraying the calipers or brake parts purposefully, it’s the overspray- it’s inevitable.

Was I originally upset, of course. It’s my first new new vehicle but I don’t think about it now. I will more than likely coat them but this was my experience and felt dutiful to share.

This right here. Just use the car wash/shampoo you use on the rest of the truck. I use a brush to reach the back of the rim and spokes, but just soapy water. I only use "wheel cleaner" on really nasty wheels.

Final answer: any car wash solution can do but i use brake buster. I will attach pictures. Now for the important part:1)Get “cover-all” from O’Reiley’s (ask for it-it will be behind the counter) 2)put it in a spray bottle-cover tire and wheel Good. 3)give the rim a quick wipe to keep it from getting thrown off when moving. I sometimes dont wipe it off if im not going anywhere till the next day.image.jpg754AB959-70A2-40E8-9992-5B770029026E.jpg
