I had a “low oil” warning show up when I stopped on a very steep hill.

Speed dependant, at slow speeds it is open all the way for more air and slowly lowers as speed increases.

I was surprised to see it. I didn't think I was on a especially steep angle and thought that I had been moving along steeper stuff. Still, a cool warning gizmo in my book compared to some of the other uselessness.

    :rofl::rofl:

If it would go down as far as the 2nd Gens, I'd lock it in there.

Don't know about you guys, but my GF checks my oil. Interpret that how you will.

On a Sunday morning of my 25th anniversary the wife found me gently weeping at the coffee table...
She comforted me and asked if I was weeping because of the 25 years we were together..
    "No I said"
She asked if I was weeping because of the 2 beautiful children we had together...
    "No I said"
She asked me if I was weeping because our love was stronger than ever...
    "No I said"

Perplexed she said : What the hell are you so weepy about...

    I replied:
Because, today is the day I'd be getting out on parole

That should be in the site banner.

My neighbor says that all the time, just not when his wife can hear.

I have had the low oil pressure warning come on while on a incline more than once. If I sit at 20+ degrees front to back or side to side and let it idle a while it will run low on oil pressure.

I only regularly check oil level on old cars that are obviously leaking and/or burning oil. If I happen to hit a big rock, I check the ground for leaks.

So, I had to get my pilots license as part of my degree. In planes you are required to check the oil as part of every preflight. The Lycoming engines took 6+qts oil, and anything down to 5 qts was considered normal. We were allowed to fly down to a 2qt oil level in the engine, but if you were down to 2qts you had to top it off before flying again.

In my car, I check whenever I happen to think about it. It gets checked at least once a year when I change my oil.

I scuffed the normal zone on the stick with some Scotch Brite, just enough to dull the finish.
It made quite an improvement on seeing the level - and it was cheap too!

You were probably flying behind a 4-cylinder Lycoming. If a customer or employee brought me their airplane with four or less quarts, I would probably beat them with their engine's dipstick.

Yup. Piper warrior, with 4 cylinder Lycoming. I was always amazed that Lycoming allowed flying that low. Seemed like a terrible idea to me. Especially since the oil is also used for cooling in those engines.

You crawl under your truck and check your spare tire's pressure at every fuel fillup?

    Same, pretty much.

For the Tacoma, if I have the hood open to clean under there, or to fill the washer fluid, I'll check the oil, but that's about it. There's an oil level warning light and also it's a lease so... :taco:

Yes, each fill. I flipped the spare so the valve points down and located the valve near the rear bumper. I don't "crawl under".

A flat spare is just as good as no spare when you have a flat.

Now wait just a minute, on an overcast day literally EVERYTHING is in the shade.
