Hey all. I picked up my first Tacoma 2 weeks ago….a used ‘17 sr5. Man I just love it.

It did need new tires, so I took the opportunity to pick up some oem off-roads, ditch the steelies, and got some 265/75/16 Falken wildpeaks. Really appreciate the community here talking them up. It’s a fantastic combo on my truck. The increase in size was much more impressive then the pictures I saw posted. It really, to my eye, makes the truck look like it should’ve from the factory. I can also confirm that combo is no big deal to the 2.7 Auto…..which to me is better than reviews. I think this will tied me over till I dive into the rabbit hole looking at lifts.

    Anyway glad to meet y’all.

significantly! that was my main issue with the stock suspension. (the nose dive on stock suspension was infuriating in stop and go traffic). It feels so much better over all the bumps and dips / road construction now

Stop and go traffic is the worst!!
My wife thinks I am not paying attention and slamming the brakes lol.
I keep my eye out for a set locally in Socal but they sell quick.

Mines still in the garage, been almost a month now since they found chunks of metal in the rear diff. They are waiting on replacement parts. The Tacoma is the first new vehicle I have owned and it has given me the most trouble! Makes me miss my 12 year old volkswagen!

Added additional metal tie down points to the bed rail system. I always hated the plastic ones that come stock. When I installed my Decked system I lost the two tie down spots by the cab. These are great and got em off Amazon. They slide right into the rail from the end. Will be putting two more on each side.

Now that you've pointed out this issue I will surely notice it next time I drive and will seek a fix. :bananadead:

According to this web page (and others) a 10.9 bolt is stronger than a grade 8. I'm confused. o_O

New tires (SL wildpeaks 265/75/16) and front bilstein 5100 set at 1.1 on stock coils. Rides amazing and dead level.

Got my ARE MX Shell installed after a literally 5 month wait. I asked the guy at the shop how long the lead time is now and he said "about same as yours, about 4 months." I said I'm not complaining but mine took 5. He shows m the order slip dated May 19th and hsays "no its only been 4.". So I go "June, July, Aug, Sep, Oct", pretty sure that is 5. He looks at me and says "oh I guess you are right!".

Anyway, love it. Did a fit test of various items.

Not shown. My road bike and 27.5" medium frame mountain bike both fit standing up with wheels on! Expected the road bike to fit but not the mountian bike. As long as the front wheel is straight I've got about 2" clearance. If I rturn it the handles bars hit the ceiling.

And below fit test my camping roll-a-cot setup with small sand chair. I can sit up on the cot bt only have about 1/2" clearance. I am going to cut about 3" off the bottom of the feet and that will be plenty.

Installed mud flaps from @TUFSKINZ. I saw them on TW so thanks to you all for the awesome recommendation! I have an SR with no fender flares but these installed with the included hardware no problem.IMG_0648.jpg
