    Hi,

I had my 2010 Tacoma regular cab back to the dealer several times for differential noise. The technicians from two different dealers told me that this "sound", (not a noise) is not a mechanical issue and is just normal for this Tacoma. The dealer that I bought it from did replace the differential, but it still makes the same noise. It's not a loud noise, but it bothers me.
The technician at the second dealer recommended using a spray on sound deadener under the pan of the cab. Has anyone had any experience with this and does this spray help?

From what I have seen on the forum, most remove the carpet and put sound deadening material in the cab. Then re-install carpet.

Ace 96. I guess that means removing the seat first? Pilotjoe123, it's a low pitched wine around 57 mph. My wife says she can't hear it, but it's enough to bother me. It sounds like it's built into the design of the differential gears.

You will need to remove the seats to do so properly. I know alot of people use Kilmat sound deadening with some diamond patterned rollers (for better adhesion) for this kind of application since sprayon is a bit messy and much more diffult if the need to remove it ever arises. Plenty of folks here have posted how-to's for this on here. I just don't have the links saved. Hopefully this fixes your issue!

Ditto on the sound deadening. Since you have a regular cab it should be easy and realatively less expensive. While you're at it, do the back wall of your cab.

The first "mod" I did to my Tacoma was gutted the cab. Removed seats, carpet, headliner, door panels and the rear panel on the back of cab. I went with a two part system that made a world of difference in cutting down on noise coming from outside the cab. It also improved the acoustics inside the cab.
