    Hi all,
I noticed on my 2016 what looks like either moisture or abrasion inside the headlight (photo attached). Anyone experience anything similar or have any ideas?
    Thanks!

Yeah we have covered this before . So on the bottom side of the headlight assembly there is a plastic cap that has a rubber o-ring. I went to my local hardware store and looked for best replacement. Was super cheap. When I was removing cap from headlight assembly it was full of water , big indicator where the water was. But now where is it coming from. Ahhh so on our passenger side fender well there is some slotted vents for the intake . I understand why . Also I understand why my headlight was getting moisture too . A failed o-ring and the dang slots in the passenger fender. Once you locate that cap get new o-ring and dry out inside of the headlight your golden . What I used to speed up process of drying headlight out is a hair dryer and a small vacuum hose . Let me know how it works out for you .

Slide your finger across the headlight lens in the "foggy" area.

Does if feel a bit rough or textured? If so, then your headlight is beginning to oxidize on the outside.

To cure this, I suggest the Sylvania Headlight Restore kit. Its about $20 from Amazon

This is good too. I do headlight restoration about every 1yr or so . Here in Washington state we have very very much of road spray , then the sun comes out for few moment bakes the road grime on the gets wet again and yeah like that from fall to spring . Just preventative maintenance. My lenses look in great condition besides a few scratches I can't buff out.

    Thanks for the replies guys!

Assume you have to remove the assy to get at the cap/o-ring?
Also, regarding the abrasion i was not able to feel much in the way of roughness but also probably wasn't that diligent when checking so i will do again.

ok will do. I will bump thread afterwards. I guess I'm naive, wouldn't expect the need to restore headlights on a 5 year old vehicle.

I dragged my fingernail and although i didn't notice a different feel in texture, my fingernail definitely seemed to "cut" through the fog. I think you are right!

Appears you are fortunate to have caught the oxidation early.

Spend $20 at Amazon to purchase the Sylvania Headlight Restore kit. Read the instructions completely BEFORE you begin work. Then follow each step to the letter. The headlight will turn out like new. Take your time, allow at least an hour or a bit more.

ive seen peeling/oxidizing headlights on a 2019 tacoma at a carmax once, so more than possible for your 5 year old truck to have it. i had a 2015 accord have small areas oxidized on the headlights at 3 years old but garaged for half the time i owned it. This time around ive wrapped my headlights with ppf to help prevent.
