As the title says I’m considering switching to a tundra crew max. Found one locally to me today and went to look at it. If I’m doing rough numbers in my head because trade values are so high between my trade of my 16 Tacoma and maybe a little cash yet down.. my payment would actually probably be less per month. Anybody make this switch to a tundra and have been happy with it? I’m really considering this if the dealership can hit my numbers right

    Depends what you want/need.

Do you need more space and to haul more? The Tundra will work.

Do you need good MPG or to be nimble on the road? The Tundra is not for you.

@RedWings44 Nailed it lol. Do you want more space, towing more, more power? or do you want more nimble, better on gas, and better offroad? That dictates your choices.

The current Tundra is nice, if you want a V8 and available part-time 4WD

If you want more cabin room, on road driveability, more power, be able to tow a little more, and better fuel economy than a Tacoma, you could consider a Honda Ridgeline.

I wouldn't get the current Tundra, I'd definitely wait for the new one to release. Thing will be peppy and probably get decent MPG if you get the hybrid option.

But yeah if you need to tow and/or want the huge increase in cabin size, front and rear, then go for it.

When did 5,000 lbs become more than 6,500 lbs?

I went to a tundra in 2019. Bought it brand new and kept it for 2 years until gas prices started rising more and more. Was great and roomy on the inside for the family, but I don't use the truck for anything other than pull my 4 wheeler, lawn mower, or motorcycle on a trailer around town. I traded it back and came back to the Tacoma. I should've never done it, but hey you live and learn.

This really shouldn't be a hard decision. If you need the room, hauling and towing capability it is a no-brainer. Tundra wins. If you don't, then keep the Tacoma. Over time my needs have evolved. Even though I knew Tacoma was a good truck there was no way one would have worked for me until my youngest graduated and moved out in 2007.

But after about 10 years the Tacoma just didn't do what I needed and I bought a 4X4 F150 crew cab. I love my Tacoma, and am in a position to keep both. But if I had to choose one it would be the bigger truck

I almost went with the F150 but only didn't because it didn't fit my lifestyle at the moment. Great truck!

I'll never own a full sized unless I have a big ass garage.

I love the old tundra but I'd likely lean f150 as well.

First gen tundra plus 3rd gen Tacoma. That’s my sweet spot. Wouldn’t mind a 2019 Tundra as well. Always buy, never sell.

2016-2017 are the best years for the 2nd Gen if you don’t mind driving that big pig.

After larger gas tank and before overdoing electrical nannies and beeping at you haha.

If anyone is selling a long box let me know :D

Ok so here's my opinion: if it's still correct and you have a 2016 Sr5. At this point you shouldn't have anymore car payments assuming 60month payments. Unless you went 72 and dragged out your payments. Comparing monthly payments on a truck that is almost paid off vs picking up a fresh car note is apples to oranges. Unless you need the towing power, space, etc. do not add unecessary payments, especially if you extend another 5 6 years of 5-600 payments

Keep in mind, no salesman is ever your friend. They don't lose money on any deal regardless of what they tell you.

    You’re a payment shopper… sigh.
What are the actual vehicle prices.
    $500 a month times 100 months is still 50k

This one time at a dealership, I went to see what was there. I already knew they didn't have anything I was going to buy, but I went looking anyway. The salesperson kept asking, what's your budget? Depends what I'm buying. Midsize trucks and 1 tons are not the same price.

I hate when they ask... How much do you want your payments to be. MFer I want it to be zero over zero months with zero interest.
