I could sell my month old OR for more than I bought it for, right now. Market is insane.

Why didn’t you drive away in the new truck? Until you have it it is a ‘maybe’. Hope it works for you and sounds like a good deal.

I'm trying to talk my local dealer into straight swapping my '20 for a '21 Tundra 1794. They're not going for it

Need to factor in the sales tax you pay and don’t get back. Sounds like a wash rather than net positive. Depends on state of residence.

If its a neutral deal why do it? Just wondering. Trying to learn something.

Of course the '21 may have been a Wednesday truck and the '22 may be a Friday afternoon truck... "Fuckit Friday" we call that.

no sales tax. Drove the 2021 for 4 months for free and now getting a 2022 with more options plus $179 more in my pocket.
    No brainer for me.

Just got a little crazier. The dealership I bought the 2021 in June has 9 gray 2021 4X2's SR5's on the lot with MRSP of $29,763. I talked to him a few days ago and said I would only pay what I could get a 2022 SR at($28,163) because I didn't care at all about any of the extras as it was a work truck. He said his manager would not discount them.
He called an hour ago saying another manager who was more willing to deal would sell me an SR5 for $28,400. I was stunned as I've called all over New England and only 1 dealer in VT would sell below MSRP. I got greedy and stuck my ground at $28,163. He agreed and I have it in writing with stock and VIN number, pick up on Friday.

LOL that's awesome to keep flipping it upward... but... man... when I think about getting a new truck, it fills me with dread. I did a lot of work to it, and a lot of it with my own hands, and... I really don't like working with cars and trucks, tbh. I bought the Toyota with the hopes that it will be my last truck!

Sounds like a win win for your situation, and a chance to make the decision a second time.

My only reason to stay with what I have is if I preferred the color.
