Can anyone help me with how I should proceed with removing the chrome from my bumper? Should I do caps? Remove and repaint with 6V7 paint and clear coat? Remove and reinstall a whole new prepainted Army Green caps? Repaint with bedliner black? Plastic dip? So many options and I was hoping someone had some advice on how to easily fix this as well as hold up well. I know how to remove them (YouTube) but I just don't know what route to take! Pics would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Plasti dip is cheap and lasts years if you do it correctly

The caps can be taken off and painted. or painted on if you tape other stuff off. I ran plasti dip on my wheels, more than one coat just as a test to see if I liked it. I did, then I ended up taking my wheels off, doing full prep/sanding and then painting them. The plasti dip was a great thing to see before committing.

I used rattle can bedliner on mine. Held up great last 2 years and the texture closes matches the black plastic center section of the bumper.

I went with ecoological's 2016-2021 Tacoma GEN 3 Rear Bumper Covers Color: Textured Black TPO - matches other surfaces well, happy with it, easy install and seems quite secure. $100 bucks though..

Line-X would be expensive - my best guess would be ~$300 - but it would be the ultimate "cry once and be done" solution. I had the "standard" grade Line-X applied to the rocker panels of my '11 Xterra when I bought it new, and it still looked perfect after 10 years of midwest ice melt, gravel, and rocks flung at it by KO2's with no mud flaps. I have an appointment next Monday to Line-X my new Tacoma's rocker panels.

I went with black replacement caps but the Ecos seemed too pricey to me. Found them on carparts.com for $48.... $70 total shipped.
They look great.. almost make is look like an aftermarket bumper. Installation is a bit of a b!†ch thobumper.jpg .

I bought a steel bumper. Too many bad drivers out there. The plastic rear bumper is a very weak crash point. Even in a parking lot.

I went with the ecological bumper shells. They do seem over priced for what they are but they have worked great for me. Plus if you scrape one you aren't scraping your actual bumper.

Looks so much better. Best $60 spent plus trying to sell my chrome ones now! No loss really! Cancelled my Bumpershellz order of $149 and got these at Carparts.com.
