Sorry to hear this. Hope he be ok. 16.5 years is pretty good for a cat but we have had a couple a little older. Always tough...and then the last one we let go....don't know why but he was very clingy to me, in the end.

Our other black cat Shadow decided he wanted to come inside and get some bacon.

I hope it's something treatable. Our 2 started losing a lot of weight, ate less and drank even less. Both diagnosed with kidney disease and the boy with polycystic disease. We now give them subcutaneous lactated ringers every 3rd day, "prescription" food (don't get me started on that scam), phosphate binder and meowzapine (mirtazapine - stimulates their appetite). It's working in that they have gained weight back and are more lively, but it's treating the symptoms and doesn't cure the disease. Let us know how your boy fares...

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome. You guys will be in our thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately these critters just don’t always live long enough and whenever we get a new cat we know that it’s likely we’ll have to say “goodbye” way sooner than we want. The love they give definitely makes it all worth while though.
