Hopefully it's one of the supposedly new and improved frames that won't rot...

I'd like to think it already had a new and improved frame. Truck is 6 month old.

My 2010 just got approved for a new frame due to perforation in the right rail by the catalytic converter; I heard that up through 2017 is eligible for the recall now...?

How the hell would any of us know? Take truck as per your Insurance to get truck inspected and evaluated. By the way that hood gap, body line does not look good. Trailer hitch/bumper is bolted to frame with 7 bolts per side. If hitch is bent downwards chances are so is your frame.
Edit: ah, see that you got pushed into the vehicle ahead of you as well, so plastics damage, and gap misalignment up front, possible sub frame/rad support damage there. Could be just a simple pull if nothing wrinkled in the crumple zones.

Jesus. It's clever to say "take it in" as if anyone thinks he would just say "nevermind, Tacomaworld says it's not totaled. I don't need to take any further action."

Bro got his truck messed up, and it's a big deal to him right now, and he wants to chat about it. The conversation here won't, in any way, affect the outcome. The body shop will know all. But until then, nothing wrong with bullshitting and chatting and placing bets about the final result...

Interestingly, the body shop did not do the estimate on my truck. It sat there until the Progressive adjuster looked at it and did his own estimate. Progressive sent me a list of all the parts needed and repairs that would need to be made. To determine the value of the truck, they looked at Tacomas at 5 dealers in the region. There were no OR DCLBs on any lots, so they looked at SR5s and bumped up the value.

if it needs a frame that may be the factor that pushes it over. my last tacoma was in the same situation. they wanted to replace the frame. the frame was on backorder for 4+ months so they ended up just totaling it out.

I was rear-ended by a Tundra, my bed dented the back of my cab. Kinked my frame. It was repaired, not totaled. Every situation is different. I'm not a body shop expert or anything. But, yeah, my truck was still totally drivable. I got home. I drove it to the body shop. I don't remember the exact number, but my repairs ended up around $15-16k. (edit: that's fake insurance money, I never paid a dime)

I was upset for a while, but I'm over it now. Truck is still awesome. I've done work on it since. I still trust it. I don't plan to sell it, but if I do I hope they don't check carfax.

If not totaled, I’d guess $18-20K to fix it.

That’s was my come on line at the clubs in the 80’s.

If you are that high up, you may be ok unless you got hit by another truck sitting high. Who knows.

    Let’s wait it’s almost Friday

Are people paying book value on Toyota trucks? I can't believe anybody is paying $75,000 for a new or used 4Runner.

The Dealer called me about that recall, they want the truck overnight so they can spray some goopy shit all over the frame.

Still looks new, I sprayed it down with 3M Body Cavity Wax the first couple days of ownership.
