Hey folks any advice on a air intake snorkel for 1996 TACO would be appreciated. Best product to purchase, tips on install, things to avoid, and things you should not do. Thanks, Woodcutter

If you're in the dirt a lot, especially running behind other trucks, it is especially useful since really that's what a snorkel is meant for.

@eon_blue runs one and he can tell you how much it helped when we were a convoy of 6 or so trucks out in Moab.

Snorkels are one of those things people either are determined to get or determined to hate, so I don't really try and persuade anyone one way or the other anymore lol.

I have found it useful for cleaner air on dusty southwestern trails and cooler air overall. The 3.4l supercharger is a heat soaker, I monitor intake air temps on my scan gauge and there was a considerable drop in IATs after installing it. Ambient air is cooler than the air in the wheel well near the firewall where the stock intake pulls it from.

Also if you remove your fender liners for whatever reason, larger tires for example...you leave the stock intake completely exposed to elements and need to either figure a way to put the liner back on that side, or run a snorkel of some kind. The fender liner is the only thing keep gobs of dirt/dust/water from going into the stock intake.

I got my dorkel because the 10 y/o in me said it was a non-negotiable.

    Do I NEED it? Nope.
Do I care that I don't need it but got one anyways? Still nope.

Water proof all the electrical and electronics so you can really put your snorkel to use and ford water over the hood !!
