03/04 is prone to having the master cylinder shit it’s self and it’s like $700 for a rebuild. Other than that they are all the same from 03-09 with exception of the nav system and some minor cosmetic updates.

03/04 does not have VVTi either, which shouldn’t make or break your decision.

if maintenance has been kept up to date then I wouldn’t worry about the mileage. My 06 has 233k and was not maintained. Runs great and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

It’s still on the original timing belt :anonymous:

I bought my 06 with 23X,XXX on the clock and i dont regret it. There were some maint. issues that i needed to do asap and still have some that need to be done but its a high mileage vehicle, it comes with the territory. But i had faith in what i was buying and who i was buying it from. In your case id be more skeptical of buying somebody else's project. If your weary of the mileage and the juice aint worth the squeeze... then pass on it. Pretty simple really.

I'd be more weary of the lift and 35s. Unless you know the owner, there's no telling how they treated it. Better to get a stock grocery-getter.

FWIW, 39k in Jeep miles is 200k in Toyota miles (I owned 3 Jeeps) ;)

Yeah, thinking I'll be going another direction. The possible outlay for upkeep at that mileage and with the modifications installed to an unknown quality is basically the same I'd be spending monthly on a newer, clean slate 460. Peace of mind is worth the extra $.

They really are the perfect size for a 470. Drivability is good, its right on the line of needing new gears. Been driving it for over 2 years like this with stock gearing. You will need a cab mount chop and hammer down the pinch welds.

I still need to weld plates on. At this point I don’t think I ever will.

Got the Park Brake adjusted and rear diff fluid changed over the weekend. Park Brake is better but still not where it needs to be. Rear diff fluid didnt look bad, magnet had some crud on it though. Few more things off the Maint. List.

Changed diff fluid, engine oil and all filters this weekend. Then decided to cut more plastic and hammer the pinch weld in preparation for 35s.

Pretty light stuff here, but I took my two year old for a drive in movie during family night at church. We enjoyed sitting on the blanket and munching on snacks. He was thrilled to get fingerprints all over the windows.

Tentative plan for the weekend is to throw some gear in the GX thursday night. Find a campspot along 105 on friday. Wake up to the sunrise on Saturday.

Well see how that works out. Lol
