    I purchased from Runnin4Tacos.
Deaver told me the correct way to repair would be to disassemble, drill out rivet, replace rivet and then reassemble. Deaver and Runnin4Tacos said I could compeltely remove the rebound clip because it's not necessary.

Runnin4Tacos basically said they're not liable because I didn't pay for insurance. They said to file a claim with UPS or pay out of pocket to have it repaired by Deaver.

I'm not happy with their response because in their disclaimer they specifically state "We try our best to at least wrap it before we ship it." Yet they did not wrap the springs, they sent them raw.
(Which leads me to believe the springs were already damaged, and wrapping them would have been proof that they were sent out damaged. So they sent them out raw, knowing that I didn't purchase the insurance.) Call me crazy

I told R4T that I want to exhange for a new spring, and I will even pay the shipping cost both ways.

As you said earlier, "You paid a premium for the quality and service... be sure to get the value you paid for." I am not happy with cutting off a rebound clip, I paid a premium and I want to receive the quality that I paid for.

Still waiting for a 2nd response from R4T...

    What do you think?

Taking a leaf pack apart is pretty easy. Just use some clamps to hold it and unbolt then slowly release. I use several clamps at same time so I can preset one looser than other while loosening. It only has a lot of tension at begining. But mark front back or always keep them same direction

I'd cut it off and buy some new clamps you don't have to disassemble. May not be bad idea to put some pads or shims under these. My limited understanding is more clamps will limit flex some but not sure if that matters. I had to add clamps when I added extra leafs to my OME because the clips are pretty short. I used both of these types on mine and seems to be fine so far.

Thank you. I just don't want to have to do that to a brand new set of springs. I understand the ease of it, but I don't think I should be the one taking the hit on this. I have the tools to do it, but I'd rather not. I want them original and new as I had purchased them.

I’d be dubious of welding on spring steel. Might make things a lot more brittle.

    I’d warranty it.

I don't care if I seem like a cry baby. I understand I can save money by cutting it or welding it or any other solution. I could have saved money by getting springs for half the price or add-a-leaf. I want the product I paid for in new condition. Scratches or Dings I can deal with, but not a loose, rattling rebound clip due to improper shipping, handling, and packaging.

No way shipping caused the clip to loosen. It was loose before shipping but a chunk of dirt or paint probably had it stuck in place. Whomever riveted the clip in there screwed up somehow. Personally if the rattle was excessive once installed I’d run a blob of black silicone under it and call it good.

You have my support! But unfortunately, that's not what you need. I'd keep on R4T and let them know, in a non-threatening way, that there's quite a few people on TW monitoring your situation. It would probably behoove them to make you whole and deliver what you paid for. If the clip can be cut off with no ill effect, great! Send me a new leaf pack, I'll send this one back to you, you cut the keeper off and sell it to the next guy who doesn't care.

Worst case scenario... I'd take the pack apart and have the rivet professionally repaired/installed... wherever you can get that done locally...?

Does R4T actually stock leaf springs. The reason I ask is a lot of these guys are just drop shippers. I’ve ordered two sets of leafs one from Headstrong and one from Camburg. All shipped direct from Deaver.

Insurance probably would have been worthless as UPS has some fairly strict packaging requirements to prevent damage.

Yes they do stock them. I originally went to purchase directly from Deaver, but they didn't have any. Deaver named a few places to check and Runnin4Tacos was one of them. I called R4T to make sure they had them in stock before ordering online as well.

    :thumbsup:Exactly my thoughts.

Runnin4Tacos did get back to me, they will exchange the spring for me as long as I pay for shipping both ways. :) Not cost efficient, but it's worth it to me.

That's better than a stick in the eye. See if they can use their business shipping account and you pay for it... should be able to save some money that way. When I shipped my leafs back, I just zip tied the scan tag to the keeper... super easy.

be careful with that loose clamp. it can actually make contact with your driver side shock if its all wobbly and skew like my Deaver J66 did:
    AWxXHcnUIlhJn6ccdjVUDkpKZC5px3AZeNU_o4b8_e415036147af2d89f3ee51e9b44a9bed4e316d7f.jpg

I didn't want to weld it, or re rivet it back into the leaf , or get in contact with beaver deaver cuz I am assuming there is a 10,000 year long back log due to supply chain BS excuse. I just popped off the clamp (it was super loose). The pack is still in line so far. all is well after a few desert trips.

Yeah like i said mine was loose too (drivers , rear portion). I dont know if it was pulled loose (out of the rivet hole) in shipping as the clamp got hit around, or if it was factory F up, or if it was me beating the shit out of it and my Icon 2.5" shocks are too wide so they knocked it out as the spring cycled.

I think at full droop the pack is still ok and it wont separate due to our J66 springs only having 11" of travel

If you think that's bad try driving around with bypass shocks . "CLICK......CLICK..CLICK....CLICK.CLICK...................CLICK". Or having your shock hoop constantly rub on the inner fenders cuz your cab is on flexy stock rubber body mounts.

ya ...I highly recommend you not drive an off road vehicle. Perhaps something like a Ford Taurus? It offers a smooth seamless ride without any scary sounds.

    Huh?

I guarantee I’ve driven more miles off-road in the last year than you have in your entire life. I checked with your mom and she supports this opinion.

It’s pretty clear you don’t even know how bypass shocks work.

I think we need to shutdown TW for the rest of the weekend. This quote needs time to sink in.

I think running for tacos is not wanting to pay the shipping as they should and are passing it off to the OP. I wouldn’t pay one cent they sent me a bad product and they should replace it free. Maybe lessons learned for a better quality control on their part. Pay shipping? Fuck that.
