I’ve got a 1996, 5 lug, 2x4 single cab tacoma. I’m looking to bump my tire size, and currently am stock suspension wise. I do plan to lift in the future but currently need to learn a little more about what I’m doing before actually attempting that. In the meantime, I’m in desperate need of new tires. I tried 265/75/15s but they were quite a bit bigger than would fit. Would 235/75/15 tires fit my truck or are they still too big? I slapped on my buddys 255/60/15s and they fit with no issue, but if I can go bigger I wouldn’t mind. If anyone knows, I’d love to hear about it. Thank you!

I have 235/75/15 on my 2013 5 lugger with no problems.

They'll fit fit as above. I only had a Lil rub when smacking bumps in the front

Tiresize.com - use the size comparison tool to get a look at what you have now versus what tires you'd like to put on. It's useful

Does it matter what year are all 5 lugs pretty much the same?

Look on the Driver's door jamb, there will be a placard indicating the OEM tire size. This will give you a base line when using the tire calculator to compare sizes compatible with your ride.

Just swapped the 235/75/15 tires on my Cherokee with the 235/70/15 that were on my Tacoma.
Seems to be a little taller. Haven't driven it much or calculated mpg difference.
Will probably stay with this set up once tires wear out

I don’t know if being a first gen will change anything, but 235/75r15 fits and looks perfect (IMO) on a stock height truck.

My buddy got the older, last gen cooper AT3s for his Cherokee in that size from Walmart for like $80 each. Think they call them Discoverer A/T now.
Those will definitely be my next tire.

Yeah I actually went with those tires. They look great and we’re very affordable. I had to put a leveling spacer on the front but they weren’t too bad. Overall very satisfied

[IMG] Just bought some old Enkie rims (5-$200)that came with bald 33X12.5 tires. Plan was to see how it looked/rode with those tires then remove tires and clean up the rims and put some 31X10 tires on them down the road when present tires wear out. I did the black box mod, tried to mount the rim but the lug nuts (M12X1.5)were buried and I couldn't get the socket around them to tighten them. Not sure how to attach lugs - longer studs? Extended lug IMG_7383[1].jpg Here are the 33's on it. Surprise, it rubbed badly. Took tires off, cleaned rims somewhat, bought center rings and pressure sensors. Waiting for current tires to wear out more and then going to go with 31.10 s. Truck has a Fat Bob's leveling kit.

I’m sure either option would work, longer studs might be a pain to do though
