rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
    2021 Tacoma (given)

The audio quality when playing tunes from my ancient 30GB IPOD (USB wired) is notably superior to blue tooth music through the Android Auto connected phone.

If there were only the latter , I would be looking at speakers , amps etc. But when listening while driving with the wired ipod.

    Nothing more is needed.

    What gives?

    I'm no audio phile...

Has to do with bandwidth limits. A wired connection can send more data quicker than the kind of Bluetooth the taco has. Think of it like image compression. Since it has to lower the packet size, the audio quality is degraded...

At least that's how I was told. I could be very wrong

Bluetooth sounds better to me than Android auto. It's actually a known problem. I wish they'd fix that because I'd use it more often, but oh well.
