I didn't mention FRS not needing a license mainly because most people purchase a GRMS radio which also transmits on FRS channels, thereby requiring a license. And as an Amateur Radio (ham radio) operator I appreciate people operating equipment correctly.

The GRMS/FRS will NOT allow you to hit a repeater. I use to hit the White Tanks Repeater from Moon Valley.

Confirmed they still sell the mountain house boxes at PV mall Costco. I didn’t see any of the readywise stuff so I’m thinking they may be phasing this stuff out. Finally convinced the wife lol. I have seen them go on sale before too. Solid deal for mountain house.

2-3 rolls of quarters. At least 20 one-dollar-bills, a couple of fives, a few tens, a twenty or two, and a few well hidden $100 bills.

If something needs to be bought and you gotta have it change might not be available... so you don't wanna spend $20 for a $5 item right?
And sometimes a crisp $100 is too tempting for someone not to take it for something you really need, regardless of the real price.

A few packs of baby wipes. Good for general cleaning of anything, everything, everywhere.
I went 7 days without a proper shower and trust me, these saved my marriage LOL.

A .22 rifle for small game.
    A semi-pistol of some sort.
    Some rope.

A tarp can act as a wind-breaker, or rain deflector, or makeshift 'cover' to sleep under.

You can pack a lot of stuff in a medium hiking backpack ( or 2 or 3 ) and they'll fit right in the back.

All manner of stuff here: https://www.minimus.biz/

I'm trying to rethink a dedicated med bag. I usually take a bleeding control/trauma bag when I'm off in remote areas but I feel like I should build my own kit and tailer it to my needs and actual realistic situations I could find myself in. What are some things you guys can think of that would be realistic to plan for? So far I'm thinking severe dehydration/food poisoning, bleeding control, infection and fever, comms and maybe something like a pocket flair gun in case of being stranded off grid, etc. I'm not trying to get too far into the weeds with stuff like sutures and advanced airway stuff. Any input and dialogue would be appreciated.

Thanks, I pretty much already have everything they carry as far as the med kits. As far as their bags, I do think there are better options. I need to figure out how much shit I plan on carrying first anyway. Big fan of what they are doing tho. Wish they were still based in Prescott.

When push comes to shove, if it ever does and I don't think it will get that way.
We've setup 4 of these square-foot-garden scenes, nice to eat fresh stuff 'locally grown'...
Shade cloth for the hot summers and timer irrigation setup. The wife did all this.

We have a Berkey water filter system. You can damn-near go potty into this thing and drink what comes
out in the bottom. For sure any water from any decent source ( lake/ river/ rain run off ) will filter down
    to real clean water.

Don't have a gas-range installed (yet) so if power is an issue I can cook up anything, and I do mean
anything on these 2 .. the outdoor wood-fired-pizza-oven is in the works too.

    upload_2021-11-2_8-56-4.jpg

Finally this little setup with solar-panels is easy to tow, easy to move around ( by hand if needed ) and coupled with the
Tacoma I feel real confident that I could get-by for quite the while with some MRE type stuff, a good firearm ( or 2 ) and
    appropriate clothing.
