Or get adaptors. I have both Makita and Milwaukee batteries and adaptors to run each on the other batteries.

    And I have a lot of M18 batteries... Like 20+ 5amp

Given I know use Milwaukee at work (company supplied) I've been disappointed with Milwaukee. The quality has really gone down in the last 3-4 years.

Impacts and drills that don't always reverse when you change direction. Hammer drills that burn out after a few months, vacuums that don't suck a thing, grinders that paddle and break stop working after a few drops. Batteries that after a year are garbage and won't charge.
They may make the most powerful tools (not by much though) but if I was actually paying for all these tools I'd be pissed about the longevity of them.

The few things I have bought I haven't had any major issues but still

I have experienced a few failures like that too. I'm slowly changing to Makita for the stuff I use daily. They recently added a 40v line of tools which is nice.

they were bought out in 2005 by the same company that owns Ryobi (Techtronic) and have focused in on the "prosumer" market. Product quality has been deteriorating ever since.

If anyone is really curious, AvE on youtube does a good job cracking stuff open and showing you what's going on inside, where they like to cut corners, and what is most likely to fail and why. It's pretty interesting.

Seems appropriate as a "prosumer" myself working on two vehicles here and there, my two Milwaukee tools have done me well, an M12 3/8" drive stubby impact and M12 1/4" drive ratchet. The stubby impact didn't have a competing model from other brands with the same size and power. I'm now eyeing the M18 mid-torque, just 6" long and puts out 650 ft-lbs.

Those AvE videos are fantastic. Love it when he breaks things down analyzing and explaining the failure points.

At my old employer I couldn't believe how many people refused to use the part numbers we assigned to components and would instead try cryptically explaining products to which they were referring, leaving out important details like size, strength, customer, what it was for, etc. After a few months I realized they were doing it for deniability, so I would always included the part numbers when responding to them to cover my ass.

not to mention the acceptance testing was done on a prototype where all other interacting systems were of different major design revs. we tested again and decided to ignore the results because the component revision configuration was too unknown at this point, lets proceed anyways, "with caution".

"No you can't write that in the report!"

"Well what should I write then?"

    "Hmmmm, lets see,
Prototype XYZ-rev1a was almost successfully completed it's cycle testing,
When there was a thermal event outside of design parameters,
The thermal expansion caused the support walls to exceed tolerance,
and caused the reciprocating assembly to exceed it's designed travel parameters.
Test was halted to begin accelerated testing on the rev1a-r2 prototype assembly."

    "You sure we can't just say;
Soon as we powered it up,
    it caught on fire ,
then blew up with such a bang,
that Mike in the next lab shit himself?"

lololol. its like we work at the same place. that is is if rev1a-r2 was built from a bunch of randomly modified parts from rev1a-r1_mattsfix
