I ordered a 4” rc lift for my 05 Tacoma but I don’t wanna run the big lift blocks on stock struts, rc says don’t do it but could I run 3.5” rc struts with a .5” or 1” block? Would that match the 4” lift in the rear?

Welcome to TW! With the lift you’re referring to, it has 2 inch blocks and replacement shocks for the rear. It has a 4 inch spacer for the front and you use the stock struts and coil springs. I have a R/C 4 inch lift and replaced my shocks and struts with Fox 2.O’s and I also installed Firestone Ride Rite air bags on the rear for added load capacity.DD5B6F21-B1A6-45B3-836E-6C08DD76F33A.jpg

I understand what the lift has. I have the lift sitting in front of me. Ik it has 4 inch spacers in the front and as I stated I do not wanna use the 4 inch blocks for the front. Hence the reason I asked if u can use a lifted strut with a smaller block. I’ve used the 4 inch blocks before they ride like hell I wanna get a bigger shock and smaller block. I was wondering if a 3.5 shock and 0.5 block would make it even with the back blocks and repayment shock

In your first post you was talking about the rear, and there is a difference between blocks and spacers. Whatever you decide, I wouldn’t go against what the manufacturer recommended.

No I was not talking about the rear. Why would I be talking about a strut/lifted strut for the rear? I asked if a 3.5” stru and 0.5” spacer would match the 4” of lift in the rear. Only time I ever mentioned the rear my apologies for mixing blocks and spacers.but u can’t help anyhow cause u have never put a spacer on a lifted strut I assume

To be honest with you, I had a local Off-Road shop install mine along with the bumper and winch. I’m not a mechanic and I don’t claim to be one, the guys who did my work are pretty damn good at what they do. My lift was installed 3 1/2 year’s ago and I’ve had no issues whatsoever. Hope you get yours the way you want it.

I would prefer the taller strut/shock but it will still be pretty stiff. I think you want the 1/4" thick spacer that would give you roughly the 1/2" of lift. My truck had OME 885 springs and Nitro shocks with a 1/2" spacer when I got the truck. It was sitting around 4" which was too tall and caused severe cv angles which split one of the cv boots. I removed the spacer and that helped a lot. Does the RC 4" kit have drop brackets?

Yes, they are drop bracket lifts. It keeps all of the angles true, I’ve had no problems in 3 1/2 years.

I do not want a 3.5 inch lift thansk for ur opinion tho. All I was wondering if you could Frankenstein the front to get less block. My struts need to be replaced anyhow before th lift goes in. But thanks again

I found a picture of my truck when I first got it with the 885 springs and 1/2" thick spacers which had the front lifted around 4". It can be done, I think RC probably says not to mess with it due to potential liability with the lift kit. The RC kit has the taller steering knuckles but I don't know if that would have any affect.

I changed out the wheels/tires, lowered the front to help the cv angles and added the rollbar. But I sold the truck earlier this year. Which brand coils/shocks were you looking at for the 3.5" of lift, most of them seem to be around 3" on the Access Cab or Double Cab trucks. A reg cab might get more lift because of less weight.
