I have a 2005 Tacoma 2.7 L engine 4 cylinder 5 speed. Recently, I started leaking all my water/coolant out when I turned off my truck. I replaced water pump but still leaking when I kill the truck. The leak seems to be coming from behind the water pump and beside the thermostat. It barely leaks when the engine is running but as soon as I kill it, water/coolant starts pouring out. Please help!

It is probably the plastic coolant bypass pipe that runs behind the Intake manifold. The intake manifold has to be removed in order to install the replacement pipe.

    The leak is probably here:

This is the new steel pipe:

If you get the new steel pipe make sure they give you the correct gasket as it is different from the original plastic pipe that uses a rubber seal ring.

Agree time to upgrade to metal pipe.

I would go to the dealer as it should only run about 50 - 65 dollars for the pipe and a few bucks for the gaskets ( Coolant pipe and Intake gaskets ).

I did see these listed on Amazon and ebay:

    https://www.amazon.com/BYPASS-16268-75110-Toyota-Tacoma-2005-2015/dp/B07FM612SM

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/202437326452

No idea about the quality of those however.

    Pipe Part # 16268-75110

    Gasket Part # 16258-75021

Awesome and thank you! I just joined as I re-start maintain our vehicles after several years of neglect. They are old, and have had regular oil changes and some lukewarm maintenance but are getting to where I have to actually work on them again.

I replaced the thermostat on the tacoma today, and the temperature gauge settled down, but there is still a coolant leak. I have been unable to find a repair manual for it, so came here looking for answers. Lo and behold, here is the information I needed. The coolant bypass pipe.

How hard are these to change without a lift? I have always used crawler, but I'm getting on in years. I do have an able-bodied and mostly willing helper.

You can do everything you need to change the bypass pipe from the top.

I just ordered a Dorman replacement pipe and gasket, and a Fel-Pro manifold gasket since I'm taking the manifold off. I guess I know what we're doing next weekend.
