I wish I had found this thread a few weeks ago to ask a few questions. Just starting out learning and bought myself a Fender parlor acoustic. In retrospect, I might have been better off with a dreadnought. The neck is a little narrow but we’ll make it work. The A chord is a bit tough to not hit the adjacent strings when playing with 3 fingers on the same fret. Currently using YouTube videos and a free 3 months to Fender Play to get my feet wet.

Hi vssman - i think we will be on this journey together a bit. lol My guitar teacher has me bar the A chord with my index finger (but that's probably because that's how Springsteen plays it). I actually prefer to use just my index and middle finger, because my middle finger is fat enough to fret the G and B strings at the same time. Im sure this is wrong. LOL

I watch JustinGuitar videos and he actually frets it like this:
B string - first finger (index)
    G string - third finger
    D string - second finger

I'm sure the pros here will chime in as well.

If you continue playing then it will become your beach/camp guitar. No one who enjoys playing guitar only owns one guitar.

I only had one for the past 9 years or so, up until 2 weeks ago. Was thinking of selling my old Horizon but I cleaned it up, changed strings and set it up this week...I need to do that way more often. It is a different guitar now, but I'm very infatuated with my new strandbergsignal-2021-10-25-21-10-03-218.jpg

So every now and then I have a few drinks and stay up all night listening to music, and the algorithm has brought me to artists like Plini and Arch Echo. Last night I discovered these guys

The neck on your parlor isn't necessarily going to be smaller than a dreadnought. Only a shorter scale. My Guild parlor has a fatter neck than my Taylor dreadnought. It is possible is has a really tight radius. But there are advantages to a tighter radius. Usually acoustics aren't like that.

It's really all about learning to use your finger tips and not your pads. I thought the same thing when I started. It was frustrating. Your body has to adapt to holding your hands in these odd positions. Gonna have sore fingers for awhile. Just keep at it. In a month you'll be an entire different player.

You're gonna want more that one guitar for different styles. My one guitar has turned into four and I'm in the market for another and if you get into electrics well then you got amps. It's so addictive. I love it.
