Lucky!!! I had to squeeze my....not so slender self under my truck in the driveway to get mine installed. It's done but it wasn't all that fun.

That won't deter them one bit, the crook recyclers that buy them they know that they are stolen and they don't care, sorry bud. At the moment Talon makes the best cat protection shield.

Your security bolts will be going out Monday, you should have them pretty soon!

    It really looks fantastic.

The only thing now is I'm wishing I had bit the bullet and bought the security hardware. :frusty:

Full transparency, for most thefts that occurred at the mall, grocery store, or public places that are thefts of opportunity, I think the Allen head bolts will be secure enough. Those thiefs probably don’t have Allen head wrenches with them, and they are not coming back.

now if you park your truck in a lot every night, and it’s alone for 6-12 hours. Say like a lot of fleet trucks are, then yes you probably need the security bolts. That being said, if the thief has that much time with your truck it’s going to be pretty hard to protect with any options.

I’m looking at a cat shield model as it doesn’t appear Talon makes one for a 2013 Tacoma. My concern is I do a fair amount of towing and wondering if this will increase the heat to the transmission at all.

I want to make one for the 2nd gen and am
    Working on a few leads.

haven’t had any heat related issues. In reference I have one on my F-150. I have towed 10-12k a few times in the middle of Texas summer without any issues.

The Stall charge per hour is $8...for oil change or in my case, skid plate/CAT plate install.

    Pictures are forthcoming.

    Ok, finally...pictures!!!

First, I want to tell you I corrected the SPACER placement and had to use 3 (3/8 washers used as spacers) because the SPACER was just flopping around all loose and everything.

Hope you like the photos and the heads up on the spacer issue...since I don't have a plate that extends as far back as the TRD Skid plate does.

The stock TRD OR comes with a black thin sheet metal "skid." I slipped mine under that utilizing the washer in the same fashion one would with the TRD Pro skid. I was fortunate not to have any fitment issues. I'm glad you were able to find a solution for yours.

Oh, I'm pricing the TRD Skid plate...it's like $373.75 here:

    https://parts.passporttoyota.com/p/...TRD-Front-Skid-Plate/75489794/PTR6035190.html

Yeah, I'm glad I had spare washers in my rolling Kobalt toolbox.

I might pull the trigger when I get my 10K mile oil change/scheduled visit at the dealership in Feb/2022.

For now, I'm happy to have the Talon CAT installed as well as the Tailgate Lock I did last weekend.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Sure is nice and shiny under there. They're pretty when they're new, but around here (probably the same for you), they don't stay that way long.

    Thanks for all the pics.

FYI- There’s a town 5mins north of me with a population of maybe 1000 and there have been a few reported cases of catalytic converter thefts (obviously they weren’t parked in garages though)
Seems that thieves are willing to drive to smaller, suburban or rural towns for easier pickin’s........

Times have changed, don't let your guard down.
