X2, I mean there is a park with some overlook on the Iowa side East of here but nothing that purdy. Some farm field and possibly a glimpse of the Mighty MO

No injuries but I do appreciate that humor.
I just got back from help round 2. Someone had previously tried to drill holes near one of the two screws that hold the rotor on, apparently gave up. We used cut off wheel and turned it into a slotted tip and got it out. They've got it done now, all the test drive. Hopefully won't need a ambulance.

I’ve been living here almost 40 years and spend a lot of time in the woods every year . I would say 10% of our squirrels are black .

    Fox Squirrel or Gray Squirrel?
I can't tell, though too skinny for a Fox Squirrel, I guess :notsure:

    Which reminds me...

    Story Time With Gritto :)

Fox Squirrels, as many of you know, are considerably bigger than Grays.
My Dad, who lived through the Great Depression, said that Fox Squirrels were much more common before then.
Deer too, for that matter, and you can guess why.
Populations of game animals recovered (and then some) during WWII.
Except Fox Squirrels, though they did recover somewhat.
They're not exactly rare here, but most people have never seen one.
You gotta go deep into the woods.
Some hunters still go after squirrels (pot pie, anyone?).

Anyway, I've spent more time in the woods than most
I have never seen a Gray Squirrel with coloration other than gray with buff underneath.
Sometimes with a blonde or reddish tinge on the tail.
But I'm getting ahead of myself...

One foggy morning during buck season, many years ago...
I still hunted miles into the woods along old logging trails.
The woods were very still and all you could hear was water dripping off the trees.
    Visibility was almost nil.

In late morning, I sat down on a log for a smoke.
I started to hear rustling noises.
Pretty soon the noises were all around me.
    Deer? Turkey?
    Nah.

Intrigued, I sat there quietly and listened.
Then, like a switch had been thrown, the fog started to lift, and what do I see?
    Fox Squirrels, lots of them.
I had chanced on a colony of them, all out and busy foraging.
Black ones, white ones, gray ones with rusty red bellies.
    It was a surreal scene.

I didn't see any deer that day, but went home well contented.

No Fox squirrel in NY . I remember years ago golfing in Mrytle Beach and seeing a fox squirrel . Much bigger than our Grays with big ears
