Hey all. I bought a slightly used and pretty heavily modified '19 Pro this summer. It's generally awesome and just got 5.39 gearing and a front air locker. I thought I'd found all the previous owner's mods (bought through dealer) but yesterday while mounting cameras under the front end I found this box apparently wired into the OBDII. Anybody know what it is? I don't see any brand or product identifiers on it.

    Thanks!

Unplug it and see what quits working or changes. Then you'll know what it's for. :D

Lol, yeah, I hope they like the eastern Sierras because that's about all the excitement they'll get.

Great suggestion. I haven't seen one in searching that matched the image, but the wiring seems appropriate.

Excellent, thanks a ton. So presumably there's a remote starter in there too. Do you get a lot of use out of it? Wondering if I should try to tame it or just remove it.

Follow the cable out of the module the other end should be plugged in to the remote starter if it's still there.

I use it some, mostly when I want to start the truck and out of range with the FOB. I use it mostly to lock and unlock when I don't have the key on me. There also is an annual fee of around $40.

You’re right, that looks like the smartphone module that’s in my N2 designs system.

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
Gents, as much as it appears to have the same casing, these alone are GPS trackers & Fleet tracking used by dealers. I would disconnect this and toss it as someone may still have tracking access unbeknownst to you if they "accidentally forgot" to deactivate their account linked to this. How do I know this? It doesn't have the blue & white wires we use for data communication to execute commands for remote control of the engine/doors and status feedback to the app. This is likely an elo branded product.

    This

I found out I had one in my last used pro that I bought. The dealership installed it so that if I were to ever miss a payment the repo company would know exactly where the truck was at. Ripped that crap out as soon as I found it…
