I am looking into having the front lifted 2 in. I was told by the dealer that you need to adjust your radar and camera. Is that true and how do you do it, or is it something only the dealer can do?

    Thank you for your help.

I am no expert on this topic but I think it is true for some and not others. I didn't have to adjust either and have no issues. I have heard of others that needed it.

Thanks for the replay. I called my dealer and he can do it all and has done a lot in the past. He told me how they recalibrate and what it cost. To lift 2 inch and realign and recalibrate for $960.00, He also told me that Toyota does not like for anyone to do this and will not warranty the system. So if I get into a accident because the system fails they have no liability. I understand that so I don't know if I want to or not now. I welcome any and all comments.

It’s a common concern that comes up on the the forum. Lifting your truck comes with trade offs. For some the trade offs are worth it and for others they are not. The liability issue seems a bit silly to me. I would never blame Toyota for my stupid mistake of running into something. I’ve lived without a TSS system my entire life until 2020. I’m not going to worry about it now.

If it is a big concern of yours, Toyota offers a TRD lift kit that guarantees the TSS system will work. It is a bit speedy though.

Thanks for your input. I went ahead and had a local repair shop who I trust do it yesterday. They installed and alined the truck for under $400. I drove it home and checked out the TSS system and it work fine. No warnings or any thing. I really like the way it looks and it will allow me to put some bigger tires on it down the road. Having fun at 75 years old.

How did you check it out? Did you drive at an object and the truck applied the brakes? If not, I’m not sure you learned much.

My TSS sensor is about 5" higher than factory (2.7" suspension lift, 2" from 35" tires, 0.4" from 2020+ grille) and doesn't give any faults. I had the precollision warning trigger a few times (car in front of me suddenly stopped, or I gave some gas to follow the preceding vehicle closely through an intersection before the light turned red), so I know the system "works". However, be mindful the system may not perform within specification (detection distance may be off, objects below a certain height [like a kid] may be missed, etc.)

I tested the TSS system by setting the cruse control and drive up behind another can and that worked. Can I not assume that the rest of the system works by that?

I love the pitcher of your truck.. Is it black? Mine is a 2021 and black. Hard to keep clean here in the NW but now that I am retired I have lots of time on my hands.
