Picking up a new work truck for my Pop’s 60th birthday present.

work truck package, long box, just the way he likes.

Going to get an auto starter installed, first time he’ll ever have one. Have some window vent visors ordered (he likes mine but has never had them).
May get the bed lined eventually if his current bed mat (same truck, 2002 model) doesn’t fit well.

He’s a simple hard working man. No cell phone, no tech whatsoever.

The floors are already rubber so he doesn’t need a floor liner.

Just drives to work and to do work, haul wood, get groceries, etc.

Going to surprise him this week. Any thoughts on little touches for a hard working well deserving man and his truck would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: best simple driving lights safe for oncoming traffic and on all the time?

    Use the KISS principle.

Perhaps a good radio with knobs and decent speakers. Don't go all high tech with NAV, bluetooth, touch screen, etc.......

My pops wouldn’t know what to do with all that haha he’s true old school. No phone, no computer, no cable, no internet. “What for?”

I would like a way for him to shuffle his music without having to take his eyes off the road. Maybe I’ll look into that, thank you!

I'm sure he's going to be over the moon with this gift man. Great work anything you add at this point is just icing on the cake.

I hope so. Some drunk totaled his truck many years ago and he’s been slaving away just to get it fixed up but it’s unsafe to drive and I worry he’ll get into an accident because of it. Stoked to finally have him in his dream truck AND have it be safe for him.

I was considering some auxiliary lighting if some kind, street legal with a good cutoff, for his drive to work early in the morning. Dark, traffic, lots of Deer. Not sure what but some driving lights.

We’re hoping the grill guard off his 2002 can be mounted on his 2013!

From what I've been seeing on posts around here Diode Dynamics makes some great SAE replacement fog lights with nice light output: https://www.diodedynamics.com/lighting/fog-lamps.html

Driving lights and fog lights have a vastly different beam pattern.

If you add driving lights, be sure to check the state laws.

I will find what’s best and check for both. Luckily South Dakota is pretty lax on just about any laws but neither my father nor I could abide driving down the road and blinding oncoming traffic, laws or not. Just inconsiderate and wrong.

They just offered to deliver for me as a gift for Veterans Day. I’ve never heard of a dealer doing that before, especially 175 miles here and 175 miles home for them! Nice folks :)

Whelp, got the truck today. Delivering it tonight 100 miles away to my dad’s work.
Hoping for safe driving, supposed to have rain, hopefully won’t freeze!
