I could have sworn that the fill neck on my 3rd get had a metal flapper in the fill neck. I noticed today that it is gone? Did I imagine that it was there or maybe was it removed when they replaced the fuel pump under the TSB? Can someone check and let me know if they have the flapper on their tank?

I thought the same thing too. I do not have a flapper after recall was done. I'm not sure of before the recall though.

First fill-up I noticed that my 2017 Tacoma had no flapper. No recall was every done. I would say you never had one either.

I don’t think my truck has a flapper either. I never noticed but I’ll definitely check tomorrow.

    Do we need a flap?

Added a flapper to mine. Noticeably more torque and a couple MPGs.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Weird, huh. Had my Taco for several years now, and just a couple weeks ago I went to put gas in it and thought "Hey, what happened to the flapper? Did it get knocked off and fall into the gas tank? ...or was it never there?". I even asked the same question in another thread around here somewhere.

I later had a look at it with a flashlight, and felt around in there, and decided there was never any provision for a flapper.

I had the same thought with my GMC so I paid attention on my Tacoma. I have not had a flapper on mine as long as I've owned it.

Glad I'm not the only one. A few weeks ago on a trip out west I decided to go ahead use my extra gas to fill up for my way home. I get the gas nozzle inserted and let it start draining into tank while I clean up camp and get things loaded. I can hear the tank is getting close to empty so I go pull gas can off and set it down. Where the hell is that flap? Panic. Lack of sleep and an 8 hour trip ahead of me added to anxiety!! Sheesh. Finally convinced myself it never had no stinking flap! My first and second gens did, I think?

Rumor around the water cooler is Meso is developing a high performance flapper with no chrome accents that is also ethanol compatible. Should be available soon for you Xmas shoppers. No word on a group buy yet, but the potential to buy individually or as a package deal with the legendary Gashole is apparently being considered.

    I don't even think my 04 had a flapper. My dad's T100 does though I'm pretty sure

I noticed it after emptying a 5 gallon can of gas in the tank. I was afraid that I had knocked it off while doing that. I wasn't worried about the lack of a flapper but was concerned that it might had fallen off and was setting on the screen at bottom of the neck and restricting the flow of gas upon fillup. If you have ever had a vehicle that has that problem, it is a pain in the ass because it turns the pump off every few seconds. If it was never there to begin with, all is good
