    What did I do?

What should I do? Is there an OEM upgrade I want?

Anything else to consider since I'll be bleeding the brakes this day?

At least the rain and wind have subsided.

Maybe something hit the hard line (considering most of the leaked fluid is at/or below the hard line connection point)? I would check all connections and bleed again.

determine where leak is coming from first. Could be something like a hardline fitting coming loose or a hole in the soft line.

New brake pads for sure and LOTS of brake cleaner.

I'd clean that up quick. Brake fluid is known to eat paint. Could be the hard line, could be the caliper itself. Either buy both or try to find out where it's leaking from.

And the hard line was leaking, the bolt for the little bracket was left off at the last brake change

Is the hardline cracked or simply loose?

The bolt is probably an M6 standard thread

It seems loose but it’s has a year and a half to wiggle, it’s a $7 part.

If you're reservoir emptied, you'll have issues. Once air gets in the abs, it'll not bleed correctly. The dealers have a special thing to get it bled correctly. I've heard people mention once you're done, and need the dealership bleed, you can drive on dirt or gravel, slam the brakes and the abs will cycle the air out, manually bleed again, then you're good. I don't know if it's true, never tried it personally.

If it didn't empty, I've heard it mentioned in here if you slightly depress the brake pedal, the reservoir won't empty out. Then you can take your time replacing the pipe.

We call that hardline bolt the rookie bolt.

I've seen a few techs forget it, it always results in this. You 100% need it.

For $10.66, parts will be here in the morning.

Thank you for the tip - reservoir is at the Min line fortunately.

when you replace the line, use a stick/long screwdriver or something between the seat and the brake pedal, move seat forward until you depress the brake pedal 1-2 inches. doing this will keep all the fluid in the resivor, it will not leak out while you take your time replacing the line. keep in mind if your going to be a while disconnect the battery so the brake lights dont kill it.

Thank you to all for the brake pedal trick. I'll be doing this and changing the oil after brunch.

    Any tips on bleeding?

    Should I get a power/vacuum bleeder?

Ye old two person job of put pressure on the pedal, crack bleeder, close bleeder, release pedal works great on the fronts.

Did you get some new pads and some brake cleaner? or are you going to replace the line first to make sure that was the leak then go from there with getting actual stopping ability out of that oil soaked setup.

    Yup, this.

Top off your reservoir step 1. So you don't get the air in the abs nightmare.
