So about 9 months ago my wife of 16 years, with two boys a 1 year old baby girl and a 22 year old stepdaughter that I raised since she was 2, decided we weren’t going to work and demanded a divorce. Not going to lie, I went into a bad place and drank a lot while blowing my vacation because I couldn’t see myself going to work. I was sitting in my garage mid afternoon and my neighbor said that I was going to the local music festival with him that night. I took about 15 steps and saw the girl that got away over 20 years ago. I said “holy shit you’re Heather” and she said”holy shit your Trey.” I’ve missed and thought about this girl for the past 20 years and she was always the one that got away. We saw each other about 17 years ago but never while I was married and that’s a good thing because she would have been a factor. Anyway, I’m engaged to the most beautiful and bad ass bitch that I’ve ever known and can’t even express how happy I am with my life.

What I want to say is that for anyone reading this that might feel like they if they are going through hell and there is no way out. Trust me my man if you are a good hearted man then you will be fine with your ex, your kids and especially with whoever you end up with next. Bitterness is a disease that affects everyone around you.

    Congrats!

Life can throw curve balls the time.

Was with my ex from 15 years old to 29. blah, won't go down that road. - no kids - shared our dog before the dog passed.

    Anyway, to my new lady.
We met about 9-10 months after I split with the ex.
She had just moved to my town from Dallas. Met (saw each other) at the gym technically, but matched on tinder one night, then saw her at the gym the very next morning. Sent her a messaged and asked if it was her, it was, went out on a date the next week (she was still in the process of moving on the weekend) Not only did we go to the same small gym, she lived across the street from my apartment. A week later finding out she worked across the street from me. She's awesome, and will be my last. Getting married in April right around our 6 year first date mark.

April is when we’re doing it too, my last as well. She’s always been the one, never left my mind. If I can’t make this one work then it’s definitely a me problem.

The thing about her is she’s always been so close. She’s a cheer coach and has coached my cousins, I have a niece with Down’s syndrome that she’s coached in cheer. Never for the last 17 years have I ran into her, and it wasn’t because I haven’t looked.

You’re engaged and married at the same time? As someone who also just got divorced, I would advise you to take a breath and take some time.

Nope divorce was final over 6 months ago, we separated nearly a year ago, and the one I’m with now is the one that I’ve always wondered about.

Did I mention that I’m 42, ex is 43. She has a 24 year old boyfriend that graduated with her daughter. I’m ok with all of her choices as long as my kids are safe. I’m about certain that my oldest would tie the kid in a knot though.

At 24, he's gonna drop her like a wet dishrag when the novelty wears off.

When, not if, that happens, hopefully she doesn't come running back into your life trying to generate new drama.
