So I just want to brag about Toyota’s for a minute….I have a 2013 Tacoma V6 4x4 w/255,230 miles (currently). And the first NON wear/maintenance part COMPLETELY failed on this truck. It was just the resistor for the blower motor. Wow…Toyota makes some damn good trucks.

To fill in some background info. I was a dealership Tech for 10+ years with Lexus & Toyota. Very happy & rewarding career.

The Tacoma I previously mentioned came into the dealership for routine service. Halfway through the service a salesman talked the owner into trading it in…peeked my interest a bit.

During my lunch break I started to look at the service history and found this truck has never missed a service or declined a repair. It was purchased at my dealer and serviced their every 5k miles except for a few services. I combed through it and found only maintenance & typical wear items were replaced. I have never seen a vehicle with 200+k miles have such a good service history!

I test drove it and was sold. I purchased the truck when it had 225,000 miles in October of 2019.

Since the purchase, I have changed the wheels & tires, suspension, cleaned up the interior, fixed some paint issues and put a ceramic coat on.

Also crazy…. I replaced the upper & lower control arms at 248k miles and the bushing & ball joints still has some life in them.

Anyways…just wanted to share how well built our 2nd Gen Tacoma’s are.

    thanks for reading!

The first item to "break" in my 2008 Tacoma was a brake light bulb around the 8 year, 80K mile point.
