AR-15 BS Thread

Some billet uppers are wider than mil-spec and the tabs are too narrow on the handguards. I have a few billet uppers that are like this and I have to find hand guards with no index/anti-rotation/alignment tabs on them or grind them down to fit. YHM has handguards that do no have tabs.
Attached image highlights the tabs hugging the upper when installed. Some manufacturers have them built in the handguard and some have inserts (BCM, second image).

Anyone seen one of the new production Colt M4A1 SOCOM rifles (CR prefix)?

Wondering any quality differences vs the ones built under the previous LE6920 production line.

Other option was the FN M4 clone but its not that great of a clone apparently.

 

Here is my semi finish upper 13.9 BA Hanson middy with Aero Precision upper and a Warcomp. Rail is 13.4 BCM MCMR and it cleared the port total length is 16 3/8 of barrel from bolt face to end of muzzle. My optic is either a TR24 red triangle or another P4XI can't decide yet.

 

1 is none, 2 is one.

Vortex Ranger 1-4. It is the same exact thing as the vortex viper pst 1-4 gen 1 that was reintroduced for a limited time after they stopped the viper pst 1-4.
I got it for $270 used so for the price I can't complain. It's actually a very nice optic, made in the Philippines I think and not China like the crossfire and strike eagle line.

Duramag and Okay Industries are good to go for metal mags.

 

Spinning up for next week's 2 gun "tAcTiCaL" match. I forgot how heavy all this shit gets when you wear it for a while. Not to mention hot. Wearing it over my flannel at room temp was a bad choice! Glad they did this match in the Utah late fall rather than the summer.

New build 11.5 SBR runs like a dream though. Cloverleafing 77grs like clockwork

I like it but it is heavy. I'd rather have an eotech I think but they cost much more than the $280 I paid for the mini mailbox. Plus side is vortex warranty and I like the reticle. Down side, weight.
