I'm trying to buy Power steering fluid for my 2007 Toyota Tacoma 2WD 4 cyl. 2.7 L engine. The Owners Manual says use DEXRON II OR III automatic transmission fluid. I bought some Castrol TRANSMAX Import Multi-Vehicle ATF at Autozone but I'm unsure if it will be the correct fluid. I called Toyota parts dept. and they said thay have Power Steering Fluid for $6/quart. Any advice?

Any ATF that is compatible with Dexron lll will work just fine.

    I second this.

I personally use Tacoma Transmission Fluid. But, that's because I got a bunch at a good deal years ago.

I think you’ll be fine using that.
If it were my truck, I’d be pouring it in.

Long answer - if you care to know what H is?

My understanding is that Dexron III was technically Dexron III(E) when released.
The alpha-suffix indicates the a change to the fluid build. ( think of it as an upgrade)

Dexron IIIH is the newest and last version. It had better additives.
After IIIH, they went to IV.

AC Delco has been one of the OE suppliers for GM for many years.
GM basically introduced Dexron to the public market.
Here is what they say under the FAQ section

That will work fine. Here's the thing; you don't just use power steering fluid randomly. If it's low, it's probably leaking somewhere. The hard lines are notorious for corroding and leaking. You should pull the front skid and inspect the lines and rack.
