    Not going to brag.
I have had a slow leak in one of my tires for a couple weeks. It's been slow enough that I could hit it with a few pounds of air every couple of days and it would be fine. Today I was going to deal with it. I have a local shop that will patch tires super cheap if they are off the vehicle, so I was going to put on my spare. After dropping it from its stowed position, I discovered that the sidewalls have damage from where the tire touches the frame. I would guess about 3/16" or an 1/4" of material is gone. I put the spare back and filled my leaky tire with more air. A slow leak is better than an explosive blowout.

Anyone else have issues with spare be damaged? I've had this truck for about 10 months now and am one month out of warranty. Any chance I can get the dealer to replace the tire? It's the first time I dropped the spare since buying the truck and it was quite a surprise.

yes, go back to the dealer and let them now. Tell them that you desperately needed the spare tire and it appeared to be damaged. let them feel your pain.

Are you sure the material is gone, look close. I just dropped mine (getting rid of it) and it has those marks. BUT it is where the metal pushed against the rubber. It will come (pop) back out after time.

Just dropped the spare on my 08 Tacoma TRD which has less than 10K miles on it. I also immeidately thought it was damaged as there is 1/8 inch deep dips which look like abrasions on 8 contact spots on the side wall. Maybe it is just pushed in and will pop back out...we'll see. If not its sill under warranty and we'll see what the dealership will do.
