Exactly as far as temp. controlled soldering station. I have several hundred dollar ones, and hot air that i've used to rebuild pc boards. Imo, both crimp, and solder jobs will last a lifetime if properly done.

I would remove the butt connectors and with time and patience strip, solder and heat shrink all connections. Afterwards I would roll electric fuzzy tape around them to tighten them up. I think if you look to replace the whole harness you'll find yourself going down a rabbit hole. My two cents.

Some of you guys have gone full retard on this and have probably scared the op away from doing any self repairs. This isn’t a wiring harness on a satellite that needs vibration analysis and temperature shock testing. It’s a simple harness on a truck. Don’t turn something simple into a science project.

Any simple wire repair will work in this case whether it’s butt connectors, adding a small length or wire and soldering it, or a more complicated repair as replacing pins in the housing and running new wires.

OP, look up splicing and soldering wires on YouTube, choose the simple repair you prefer and go for it. You can’t mess it up. Don’t let the guys above scare you about an easy wire fix.

With that many wires and butt connectors here and there it will become a shrub of connectors under the head liner

I whish I too lived in a world where thermal runaway did not exist. I could go back to twisting wires and covering with electrical tape... Actually, the only failures I have had on such connections is pulling apart, so they must be safe. Wire nuts though, I have melted one of those off on a vehicle... moral of the story, don't let a 13 year old "fix" a wiring problem on your vehicle, even if they have helped wire a house... The lesson was cemented when the neighbors son came home (a Marine tank mechanic at the time) and dryly said "those are not even meant for vehicles."

As for full retard, "I yam what I yam" and ant nothin gona fix dat.

This post has some pictures of the elusive wire OP is searching for, with confirmation that it's glued to the headliner. Awesome thread.

Interestingly, the harness in those pictures is sold separately, since it's a 2019.

I worked with a (not too swift) fellow who had an International Scout that he was doing some weekend backyard bodywork on.

One Monday he came in all ticked off, seems he drilled through the quarter panel -- into the gas tank...
Next Monday -- figure the odds of a 3/16" drill bit hitting a brake line...
Following Monday -- set the seat on fire with sparks from the grinder...
Did I mention that he wasn't all that swift. Good times!

That could be fixed in no time with a soldering iron and heat shrink. I've fixed bundles with three times that many wires that were cut different lengths.

For now I just used butt-connectors. Everything works but for warranty purposes I’d just like to get the manufacturer’s part

100% agree butt-connecting was a temporary solution as it was already 4am and had to get to work the same day by 8am (with a 100mi drive). Didn’t feel like soldering…

For now trying to get my hands on the actual OEM part for warranty purposes

Luckily I barely missed the airbag and all is good on that end
